This Forza Horizon 2 Storm Island Trailer Is Like Cocaine In Your Coffee

The detail on this incredible lineup of trucks and rally cars, the dramatic terrain and strikingly rendered weather... Holy cr*p, this jaw-dropping Forza Horizon 2 Storm Island trailer makes me want to rip my shirt off and take a race-prepped Ford Ranger off a jump. Which I could do if I got this game.

Forza proved they were committed to the off-road element of racing with some great vehicles and dirt courses in the initial Horizon 2 release, but this Storm Island expansion looks like it's taking the off-tarmac action to a whole 'nother level.

Here's a gameplay clip of what they call "Rampage Mode," with commentary from the developers who made it happen:

And here's what the game's Creative Director Ralph Fulton calls "one of the most extreme races that we've ever had in the Forza franchise before:"

The Storm Island expansion pack will be available on XBox One has downloadable content starting December 16th, 2014.

So nice. The best looking, best playing racer just keeps getting better.

Really pee'd off last night was playing through a race about to win the championship all of a sudden the screen goes black, about 5 seconds later the xbox pops up stating that Forza needs a 108MB Update, i click cancel but it just takes me back to the dashboard, lost a great race!

It's things like that which has grated me over the past year since owning the XB1,

Yeah, that sucks. Happens to my on both me X1 and PS4. The whole point of a "console" was supposed to be the ease of playing. Just plug and play a cartridge on my old Atari 2600, or just turn on and play like my Pong. Now they have turned into PC's. The focus has changed, and I think it isn't for the better.

This might just be the game that pushes me to switch to the X1 from being a play station gamer since its launch. it would be intresting to see if turn10 developed a forza that had real life length roads so you could drive to any location on the globe. sorta like what microsoft did with flightsim

I'd preorder that!

I'm wiyh xSuRgEx on this one. I too would love Turn 10 to make a Forza that allows you to go anywhere on the globe with real life length roads just like Midtown Madness 2's Cruise mode with no policemen and Flight Simulator, but with Cars/Trucks/CUVs/SUVs etc. Combined. That plus being open world and I'd buy myself a copy if they made it! Perfect spiritual Successor to Midtown Madness.

It's a game heavily using online services.  Most online enhanced games don't let you run the old version when they reboot the server and update the game.

I'd be surprised if there was no in game warning, though I obviously wasn't there.

Does anyone realize how ridiculously unrealistic that is ?

making a single drivable road is months and months of work, if you did something like that it'd look like the 3D mode on a GPS , firstly we don't textures for all roads and nearby areas of the earth of even close to high enough texture, then there's the modeling, the trees, the houses, and actual road and surrounding land geometry.

the closest you'll get is the island(s) of Hawaii. and I can't personally vouch for the accuracy of that one.

Road images are repeated.. which you can see same print repeated when you are driving..

your skid marks are overlay, I think. And they will be gone as soon as you leave the race. Once you go back, your previous skid marks are gone. Except the ones you recorded and saved on your account.

I don't care how the trees look...  I rather focus on the road and the cars around me.

There are very nice view of the mountains in the games...  amazing view..  In FM4/5 for example.

perhaps a fitting title for such a game should be "Forza Horizon Road Trip"

how cool would it be to take a virtual Road trip in the comfort of your own home in your dream car, meting up with your friends from other states etc.. along the way.

ok it might not be 100% super realistic but as a concept that can be built upon it is doable.

If you want to do that, get The Crew game..  you can go from Point A to Point B.

Remember, the game studios could take months/years to create maps of America for the trips (either short or long trips) if you want them to make the realistic stuff in the game.

Test Drive Unlimited has garages/clubs that you can get inside to relax or switch cars.

You can make a team and create your own game for that if you want that concept.

Maybe think a bit smaller, perhaps? A Forza that allows you to go anywhere in the USA with real life length roads just like Midtown Madness 2's Cruise mode with no policemen and Flight Simulator, but with Cars/Trucks/CUVs/SUVs etc. Combined that is also open world perhaps?

Even America is ridiculously unrealistic, even a single state is.  way to much data, and collecting the data to the details required would take decades and after that it would just look like the Google street view.

Until you have super powerful AIs to convert satellite images to real high res textures and ground models and scenery, it onto ever happen.

Maybe in the future when we all have 10gbps connections and everything is streamed through the internet clouds

BUMPITY! Porsche expansion $9.99. This expansion basically completes the game for me.

911 has always been my halo car.

Used 911's are fairly reasonable. Unlike other supercars, they actually have miles (I'm looking at you Ferrari). You buy a Porsche to drive it, and chances are, they are well maintained. My dream car these days would be a 991 911 GT3 RS or a Cayman GT4.

    • Yup, broke my comp… again. its times like this when I regret AMD. This just never happens on NV.
    • Huh? You're delusional calling the Steam Deck dead. It is so successful that it has sold out multiple times. Even after the price hike this year it sold out again with 24 hours of being back in stock. The demand is real and has not died down even after four years.
