Newsday: Yanks sign Brown

I'm pretty ****ed. This is the Yanks rotation now:

Mussina

Vasquez

Brown

Contreres?

Wells

I mean, it isn't too bad but its certainly not what all Yankees fans were hoping for:

Mussina

Pettitte

Vasquez

Colon

Contreres

All that and the deal with Sheffield seems to be falling through, the dynasty is over unless Cashman and Steinbrenner pull out all the stops and pick up Millwood and or Maddux then go after Tejada to play third and/or Geurrero in right. They may even go afer Rodriguez-- (Alex or Ivan), then trade Soriano for Vidro and prospects- then they would have 7 300+ hitters in their lineup which they need, cause theyre not going to do it with pitching.

As a fan of anything anti-Yankees I don't mind that their rotation is falling apart. It just seems to me like George is in more of a reactive mode than a proactive mode this year. In year's past he would jump right out and get what he wanted, now the Red Sox got Schilling so he counters with Sheffield (tentatively) then the Astros take Pettite and he counters with Brown.

I think Brown will be fine in NY if he's healthy. My gauge for LA pitchers is to look at their away stats since LA gives such a huge pitcher advantage (Chan Ho Park's away numbers should have told the Rangers something) but Browns numbers are actually better away then at home. The samples small because oddly, I think close to 75% of his starts were at home.

The Yanks rotation might include Jon Lieber instead of Wells. If he's also healthy and has some run support (Like the Yankees are known to give) I think he'll get atleast 15 wins.
