*Breaking* Ebola has reached the U.S.

Well if it only spreads through body fluids, that guy was an idiot for coming into contact with body fluids of an ebola carrier and then traveling abroad having knowingly done so. He should be incinerated immediately before the virus has a chance to mutate into an airborne one.

You do realize that contact could have been a hand shake or simply touching something that someone else touched that had it without even knowing.

So it spreads a lot easier than people would have you believe? The whole "body fluids only" thing makes it sound like you need to lick their eyeballs or something. Spread by casual contact = he and all of his contacts should be incinerated. Take no chances.

I sure hope it doesn't get out of hand here; it probably won't.

About half the time at the hospital when we get a CDEF infection, it spreads to adjacent rooms. Now i'm sure part of that is bad infection control at that hospital, but this guy was out in public for a bit before coming into the hospital and getting diagnosed. This could easily spread like crazy. Think on this, if we have trouble controlling the spread of CDEF in a hospital with contact isolation in place, what makes you think we can control an extremely contagious Ebola strain?

This will be the movie Contagion, except in real life.

Contagion movie in real life=terrifying

Sweat is a bodily fluid that ebola particles can survive in. The problem is people touch their face thousands of times an hour and if you shakes someones hand or touch a surface that has the particulates, you take the chance of infecting yourself. Hence why health care workers constantly wash their hands or use disinfectants all the time when working in their fields. The suggestion that people should be incinerated goes to show just how ignorant you truly are. Iv seen some dumb comments but holy crap that takes the cake.

Do you even realize that the flu kills more people each year then ebola has killed in 40 yrs?

From what I understand it's not very easily communicable, so I'm pretty confident we'll be able to keep it under control.

This is absolutely true, but this is in part because those who die from it are either children, or are from the geriatric population with weakened immune systems. Ebola will kill next to 50% of those who get it treatment or not. If it is even as contagious as the flu, its still going to be a horrible thing to spread.

You're pretty much hoping ebola spreads. All of the ebola carriers must immediately be incinerated.

That is all. I am going to purchase a flamethrower now.

America has the best doctors and public health infrastructure..

Out of curiosity - who pays for the healthcare associated with quarantine in the United States? I assume it is the federal government, not the patient, as quarantine is a federal matter.

Holy retarded statement batman. Nothing in my post remotely suggests that I hope it spreads. I get that you're trolling, there's just nothing funny about trolling about people's lives.

Agreed, like sneezing, coughing, sweating, ect... The media (Director of the CDD) so far are downplaying or as of last night anyway. Don't worry though Enron, our resident Phd's,Virologist, MicroBiologist are on it for us bro.

Will Judge Jeanine Pirro claim this is a plot by ISIS and blame Obama and RADM Boris D. Lushniak, M.D., (our Acting Surgeon General)?     :/

Probably but you can bet your sweet ass that Obama WILL blame someone else.

It's not really a federal thing, its a health precaution. You can be quarantined for a good deal of diseases. Its just another room in a hospital so it'll be part of the hospital charge. My mom was quarantined once because they thought there was a chance she had TB (she didn't).

are you guys serious? You really think that the guy caught it or something? US is releasing the virus themselves, they need to lower the population without getting the blame other than releasing diseases and virus's. People are so brainwashed these days they wouldnt believe that the government is doing it, if Obama himself came out and said it. Things will only go worse and worse. There is no way of surviving this other then through Christ. And yes you are all going to start saying how im this and that and take my fairy tales elsewhere, but the truth is, that its all real and will happen, becuase it says so in the Bible.

You might find this shocking but there's plenty of information about ebola on the interwebs and you need is basic reading comprehension.

Here's a good starting point... http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/lab-bio/res/psds-ftss/ebola-eng.php

It will be funny watching people like you push back your end of the world scenario when this fizzles out.

That's funny I didn't see anything about ebola in there lol, You should read the boy who cried wolf people say this every time anything bad happens hover the same people are nowhere to be found when it blows over

    • Plans. Christ at least editorialise this tripe for what it is or put your own journalistic take on it.
    • If you have a TV in your living room, chances are you can probably just use the Steam Link app and play your huge PC in big picture mode, effectively giving you the Steam Machine experience to see if you'd actually like it. The good news is the Steam Machine can have it's drives upgraded. It has a USB-C 10Gbs port as well, so the 512GB drive could be quickly moved to an external enclosure and repurposed.
    • This machine could very well be a second gaming PC for their living room as a console experience. So we would have to assume their main PC exists as well; With that said, I have 10gb home network with a 2.5gigabit internet connection here so we tend to have more than enough speed to download games. However, we can't make use of the 10gb LAN using Steam's built in transfer tool because it always compresses transfers and that slows the transfer down to well below a standard gigabit port speeds, sometimes as slow as 200-300Mb/s transfers. While that's probably still faster than most internet connections anyway, if they'd fix the LAN transfer issue it'd be upto x5 faster even on a gigabit LAN, than simply dropping a 2.5gbe port on there with hopes of a few people having fast internet connections. There are solutions, work arounds, like using LANCache if you run a NAS... or simply copying the files over manually using a network share.
    • Samsung announces ultra-fast UFS 5.0 storage to supercharge mobile AI by Paul Hill Local AI models tend to run a lot more slowly than cloud services like Claude and Gemini; however, Samsung has just announced that it has developed its UFS 5.0 solution, which increases data transfer to speeds of 10.8GB/s, enabling faster storage and processing in mobile memory that has the potential to provide more optimal local AI experiences. Commenting on this development, Jangseok Choi, head of Memory Product Planning at Samsung Electronics, said: If you’ve tried local AI, you’ll know it can be quite slow, especially if using the larger parameter models. By developing this new solution, Samsung says that storage is evolving from just storing data to a core piece of infrastructure that supports AI computation, too. The Korean company said that UFS 5.0 integrates the latest embedded memory interface standard from JEDEC and achieves up to 10.8 gigabytes per second (GB/s) transfer speeds. Regarding write speeds, Samsung UFS 5.0 can reach 9.5 GB/s. Both the read and write speeds are twice as fast as those of the previous UFS 4.1 standard. Aside from being ideal for local AI, Samsung’s UFS 5.0 is more power efficient by 40% compared to UFS 4.1. Samsung achieved this by implementing innovations such as clock gating and multi-voltage technologies. UFS 5.0 is also ultra-compact at just 7.5mm x 13mm x 0.9mm; that is 16.7% smaller than UFS 4.1. The company said it will be bringing it to multiple devices in the future, including mobile, wearable, and extended reality.
