The Columbus Dispatch reported that defensive lineman Kosta Karageorge left his apartment early Wednesday morning and had not been heard from since. Karageorge's sister Sophia told the paper that her brother's roommates said he had gone out to take a walk.

Columbus Police confirmed to the Dispatch that they were looking for Karageorge, but did not have further comment.

Sophia Karageorge said that police had traced his phone to an address in suburban Grandview Heights, but had not recovered it. She added that her brother did not take his motorcycle or car when he went out, and was not carrying identification because his girlfriend had his wallet.

Sophia added that the family was worried that Karageorge might be disoriented due to the effects of a concussion, though she said that her brother had been "properly taken care of" by the university's team doctors.

Police confirm body found is OSU player Kosta Karageorge. Spokesman says appears he died of self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Karageorge was a walk-on for the Ohio State football team and also wrestled. According to a police report, Karageorge's mother said he struggled with sports-related concussions and his sister said he had suffered one a month prior. His mother said he texted her Wednesday referencing the concussions and apologized for being an "embarrassment."

Ohio State held a moment of silence for Karageorge before Saturday's game against Michigan and a missing poster was displayed on the scoreboard at Ohio Stadium. After the game, coach Urban Meyer called Karageorge's disappearance "unbelievable" and said "All you can do is grab a knee and play hard."
