Firefox not getting latest, most recent version of webpages

Recommended Posts

I apologize, I know this has been mentioned, but for some reason I couldnt find the settings to enable this.

I know there is more than 1 about:config setting which needs to be checked - but cant remember which one.

I have noticed lately that I have to actually hit refresh to see a neowin page with my recently added comment.

However, I dont think it is just a neowin thing - I think its that I have only noticed it on neowin.

Thanks

This happens to me all the time on Neowin, and only Neowin, and never at home and just at work.  Not sure why.  CTRL and F5 (just F5 will not work for me) is what I do to refresh the page at work.  If I don't do that, it will be a while before it refreshes.  Odd thing is, the forums show notifications from posts on the front page right away and does not have a problem.  Started with the redesign.

OK - thanks-

After posting this, I kept thinking if I have witnessed it on other sites, and I didnt think so.  But I didnt want to say "Hey neowin - your site is messing up"

Thanks

Sounds like there is a proxy in between you and the site(s) your visiting.

If the proxy has cached the content then it will send you it's cached content.

There might also be something else causing the caching locally.

Try restarting Firefox in safe mode, and see if you get the cached pages with other browsers and if you do a curl to the domains below.  You could also be able to see if the browsers are serving from cache locally by using the Developer tools.

Even though there are no-cache headers sent your ISP might be caching the content before sending it to you.

Session and form_items have been truncated.

The headers for the frontpage and the forums are different:
