An official with the transport ministry, Hadi Mustofa, told local media the plane lost contact over the Java Sea, which lies between Surabaya and Singapore.

He said the plane had asked for an unusual route before it lost contact.

Might be MH370 all over again.

I think it would be more interesting if they didn't find the plane, Although I suspect they should find the plane given the range. If it did crash that seems like most probable scenario, Hopefully there are survivors.

I hope they find this one. The search area looks far more contained than the Malaysian one off the west coast of Australia.

there probably less mystery than MH370, there already report about possible plane wreckage sighted in Belitung Island area.

I wouldn't go by misc reports... Remember how many reports there were for the MH370.

but as mentioned before, the search area for QZ8501 are far smaller than MH370.

Dude the the report you listed above in the previous posthas already been debunked.  I think your right about that they will eventually find the plane. But your speculating too much.

Mindboggling that they do not know where this plane is.  Same thing with MH370.

These planes should have their location known from takeoff to landing (or impact).  ADS-B (or better yet ALAS) devices need to put on the fast track and implemented into these aircraft.

Thats one of the bigger questions. In this era planes I thought have quite a few gps units and transponders. Hard to believe that they can loose signal that easily.

We all have mobiles with gps yet it's still easy to loose signal, even if your just walking in built up areas of the its.

There are no barriers in the middle of the sea...

There are also no cell towers in the middle of see ;)

For GPS to work, no cell towers needed. Just satellite.

Can't believe we are going over these elementary GPS/A-GPS tech all over again. I thought everyone got it with our last MH370 thread.

How are these people suppose to call when then they use gps only have gps signal.  I can't believe people think GPS on a phone will find the plane.

They don't they think the plane is surely broadcasting its location over its own GPS at least until the power goes out

I honestly thought at the very least, pilots would get themselves that Breitling Emergency watch

In this day and age, as commercial jetliners are going missing, pull the pin, it's not misuse, and it gives armed forces a bearing at the very least to go and take a look at...

With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package.
