I don't like it, just something off with it IMO.

I can probably tell you what it is. The original Ecto-1.. the equipment was intergrated with the car and there was a lot more equipment up top with blue lights. It had a lot of lights and strobe lights. This really adds to the bulk of the car. Also the ride height wasn't that high with the Original Ecto-1.

Here is a picture for reference to the old girl.

This is really my feeling toward the entire movie. The target audience isn't fans of the original films. They're essentially giving a giant middle finger to the fans who actually want even a remotely decent film, "screw you fans! We would rather make crap, cause we're Hollywood, and crap is what we do and you morons will still pay us millions to make more crap!"

"Ghostbusters reboot movie made $10 million on opening weekend, making it the latest in recent box office flops. However, in the same weekend, sales for the original Ghostbusters on Blu-Ray and DVD went through the roof, sparking a shortage in inventory as the studios struggle to meet demand"

Who on earth would look at that and think "yeah, we nailed it, that's a good re-imagining of their car".

The original is an awesome looking classic car tricked out with all kinds of gadgets on it. This is a station wagon with some lights and junk on the roof. Its an ugly abomination.

As much as I'm a fan I'm really not expecting this to do well, they'll fill it with comedy and try to draw in people that way but I don't think it'll work.  I hate to say it but I hope it flops at the box office, maybe then they'll stop trying to redo everything that saw success in the 80s and 90s.

I'm usually the first to say "let's wait and see what happens, it could be awesome, we just do not know yet!" but i'm going to break habit here and say... this looks devastatingly bad.

First up, i'm not a fan of the cast. I've nothing against casting women in the roll, hell it could have been interesting. However i just don't find these women particularly entertaining on screen. Maybe this will be change that, i just don;t know.

Secondly, the set and prop design seems to be slap dash. Everything looks kinda weak, from Ecto 1 right through to the uniforms. It's like GB went public sector.

If they wanted to reboot with a new cast, then they could have done it so much better. They could have had the old Ghostbusters semi retired, very little ghost activity (yeah, very GBII i know) and needing to train up young blood as things suddenly start to get hectic again (you probably notice i'm not a screenwriter :p ).

Any way, for the sake of having something decent to watch, i hope this tuns out to be awesome, but i'm seriously having doubts.

"They'll fill it with comedy"

Really? They ARE comedies.

All of these women are proven commodities in comedies and the 3 from SNL are really funny, the special FX will obviously be better than the originals, why not just wait and reserve judgement until you actually SEE the film instead of passing judgement based on 4 overalls and a car?!?

Heath Ledger proved that pre-judging a performance/film is pointless.

I'm not saying it's not a comedy movie, it is, to an extent, I'm saying they'll just push it out as any other generic comedy you'd see each year and try to draw in people who would otherwise not care about a ghostbusters movie.

I'll give you the whole Ledger bit, I agree but you know what, that was Nolan, and it was a batman film and it was also not a comedy.  Are these ladies funny, that depends on each individual, but taking funny people and slapping them in a comedy movie doesn't automatically guarantee success.    I have my own reasons for not wanting these respins of classics not to do well, and others would agree, maybe Hollywood would stop this trend and give us something new if more of these projects flopped.

Actually, any one of us can judge what we've seen so far. Yeah it doesn't mean we know what the movie is going to be like in the long run, but i'm perfectly entitled to say that those props and costumes are terrible looking, and i don't find any of the cast particularly entertaining.

Simple. Don't watch the film.

I'll watch and enjoy it for what it is, the original film was great, the sequel was dreadful, one of the cast/director is dead and the rest of the cast are not interested in making any more Ghostbuster films so this is the only film we'll get. I enjoyed the previous appearances of the new cast so I'll probably enjoy this without pre-judging it based on a completely different film and completely different people.

So because what i've seen so far doesn't fill me with hope, i shouldn't watch the film? I'm sorry, who made you the god of film? No one.

The point of forums and these threads is for people to discuss what we know about films so far, my observations are the props and costumes *currently* look like crap, and my personal opinion of the cast is that none of them entertain me much in other things i've seen them in.

At what point you decided this had anything to do with you, i just don't know.

    • If you don't care to read what I said, then you prove my point. Maybe written media is beyond your attention span. Titles are not summaries my friend.
    • Nobody asked... in fact, I said "I don't care about political leanings"
    • TLDR. Here is a far better title (just a basic example): Windows 11 26H2 to allow disabling Web search results
    • Restore will get my vote, only if to see if things are any different, doubt it though but Labour and Conservatives too out of touch and same thing over and over and over…, Lib Dem who?
    • There is nothing wrong with this title. You have completely missed the plot when it comes to "clickbait." The issue was never that a title tries to entice you to click, that is how titles have worked for over 100 years. The issue is when the title subverts expectations, getting you to click expecting something that isn't there. The classic clickbait example is "Boyfriend caught cheating, what happens next will shock you," then what happened next is the girlfriend was upset...which is probably the least shocking outcome imaginable. If sounds like what you want is for the titles to be a collection of 10-word summaries that you can skim, get the just of the story, and only click if you want more details. That is not, never has been, and never will be what titles are. You can go all the way back to print newspapers during the great depression and see the same thing. The newspaper was locked in a vending machine, all you can see is the headline, you choose to put in 5¢ to buy the paper and read the rest if you want. Those headlines were written in a way to sell the paper, not just to provide a summery. Here are two actual headlines from that time, "Wall Street Lays an Egg," or "Stocks Hit Bottom?" Maybe you'd say something like "it was wrong then and it's still wrong now." Okay, fine opinion to have, but it isn't like Neowin is doing something unjurnalistic, they are just following the age-old standards for written media.
