The next build will be a pure bugfix build. This is the changelog. The build is still in testing:

28-09-2015: Dopamine 1.0.0.401 (Preview)

- Fixed several coloring issues with the Nano Player window controls
- Fixed the color of the tray controls when using the light theme on Windows 7 and 8
- Fixed a bug where it was not possible to start a song by double clicking in the active list if the previous song was started from explorer
- Fixed a bug where always on top of the Micro and Nano player got lost when the playlist is open
- Fixed a possible database creation error on clean installs
- Fixed a problem when ordering artists starting with "The"
- Regression: due to issues with how the Micro and Nano player playlist was rendered, I had to go back to using
a single window. That has as consequence that the playlist can only be shown downwards. Sorry about that people.

This makes it a no go for me... so sad :( I can not use it without this... I mean I can but I don't want to.  This makes it so you are forced to keep Dopamine at the top of the screen.  I beg you to find another solution please!!!

Sorry to hear you'll miss out on all the other great stuff :)

I spent 5 evenings trying out every possible permutation of solutions, each time requiring ugly, unreliable tricks. Each time I had to revert to my previous code, because it just did't work correctly or looked ugly. It's unhealthy, and I've really had it for now.

Possible other solutions:

- No shadow on the playlist window, but that decreases visibility, especially with the light theme.
- Using a custom shadow on the playlist window: looks ugly, because you then have a mix of shadow types.
- Putting the playlist in a completely separate window which doesn't touch the main window. A bit winamp style I guess.

Just know that these are not possible:

1. Opening playlist above main window inside the same window. Because that requires increasing the window size as soon as the playlist button is pressed. Increasing window size shifts the window's position down, as a window's position is set by it's top/left coordinate.
2. Opening the playlist in a separate window which touches the main window, because it causes ugly shadow overlap between the 2 windows.

Apologies if this is yet again another misunderstanding, however I can't believe I've never really noticed this however the song ordering under the Artist tab in collection the song ordering seems off.

So the Artists appear to be ordered as expected, as it the albums however the songs seem to be ordered by the albums rather than the track names;

gmYC8Tl.png

So as you see on the left it has artists beginning with numbers and then goes on to A, Albums are ordered by Album name, whereas the songs are showing as songs from the Ed Sheeran Album in the order of the album, then it moves on to Taylor Swift etc etc.

I would have expected songs to ignore the previous "lists" and just list any tracks beginning with 0-9 and then a-z?

It is not supposed to be ordered that way. It should be alphabetical, as you expect. On that screenshot it looks like the 2 types of ordering are mixed up.

Over here I can't seem to reproduce it. Can you reproduce it? (maybe it is caused by a specific set of actions).

If I'm honest, I don't ever see it any other way, It's like that all the time. Are logs going to be of any help?

I fixed it.

I found another little bug, aesthetic one. It seems like the button circled in yellow is misaligned with the other elements on the page, not a big deal but i saw it :)

misaligned button.png

Also fixed

As in a bug with Dopamine, or something corrupt within my db?

It was a bug in Dopamine. It actually crashed silently/internally (without bringing down the UI) while getting and sorting the songs, and it reverted to the default sorting mode of "by album".

The crash was caused by several files where the tracktitle tag is not set. Dopamine should be able to handle such files without screwing up the sorting. That is what I fixed.

Ah nice, so my dodgy songs caused a crash that was hidden pretty well :D

My music is all over the place at the moment after a rebuilt not too long ago, filenames all weird, duplicates all over the place, it's a mess :(

That is the kind of set up I need to stress test Dopamine :)

Oh i forgot another aesthetic bug: When Dopamine's window isn't active, the color of bottom border is clearer than others.

Looks like the border is doubled on the cover player when the window is active.

Do you have a screenshot of that?

I see a 2px bottom border with the same color when the window is active. When the window isn't active, i see a clearer bottom border of 1px + a normal bottom border of 1px. I have this problem on all Dopamine windows, not only on cover player.

You're using scaling of 125 or 150%? I've tweaked it a bit. But can't promise it will look much better.

Fixed on my system, Raphaël. I uninstalled the previous one and did a clean install of the new build and so far so good. Thanks for bringing an update in such a short span! :)

Hi there, love this app. I found this forum while looking for a way to fix the bug I have.

I clean installed windows on my SSD and after downloading Dopamine, I get this error: SQL logic error or missing database, no such table: Configurations - whenever I try to launch the app. Anyone has an idea how to fix this issue? I really love this music player, used to have the Zune software before and this one is very similar and I love it.

Thanks

I still think it was awesome the way it was... I had no complaints about it.

Yes, please install build 405 which I released yesterday. It contains a fix for this specific problem. If that doesn't fix it, let me know.

    • Dude get a clue, LTSC is Enterprise, not even legal for consumers, and ESU is not mainstream support cycle, just an extended security updates period.
    • Nvidia is your issue more so than linux itself. I did used it for a while with an old 1060 3gb, but using propietary drivers was kind of messy.
