+DonC Subscriber² Posted February 17, 2015 Subscriber² Share Posted February 17, 2015 A friend of mine recently suffered an expanding battery in his Apple laptop which violently ruptured the case. Needless to say, the laptop is now unusable but it was only 3.5 years old and quite expensive. Okay I thought - this happens with Li-on batteries. However I was astounded when others on the Facebook thread joined in with their experiences and I counted at minimum eight other cases of expanding battery failures within earshot of that thread! Is Apple really pushing battery technology too far here? I guess I should be glad that each case appears to be an expansion rather than the dramatic explosions I've heard about with Windows / Linux laptops. Subscriber² Posted February 19, 2015 Subscriber² Share Posted February 19, 2015 I have a 6 year older Unibody MacBook and the battery is still fine in that, the only thing that it suffers from is overheating the charge cable...
