Hotspot on rooted phone

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to bypass the carrier for using hotspot. I really don't want to pay $5 a month to the carrier for them to let me share my unlimited bandwidth with another device. I have looked at the many offering in the play store, but none will work without having to enable the hotspot feature of the phone, and in doing so, I am redirected to the carriers page saying that I need to purchase the feature from them.

Install Xposed Module, it is a must have for rooted phones. What Xposed does is lets you install modules that can tweak how your phone works or add functionality. One of them is X Tether, which lets you tether your phone's data: http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.dym.motoxtether

I usually use Cyanogenmod with Tether, but that's a bit more than just rooting. Did that on Sprint and Verizon without issue.

I've got xposed install as well as moto tether modual,however I still seem to have the same issue as mentioned above.

Rooted my phone, applied a different ROM, and can wireless tether my phone whenever I want.  Never paid a carrier to use my data and what I am already paying for.

From your profile info, you have the Galaxy Exhibit?  While it isnt the most popular supported phone on XDA, looks like their are some Cyanogen ROMs for it...
