On the Internet, people who engage in antisocial ways in the comments section of web content, have come to be known as trolls, they represent, like those who dish out spam, a constant source of annoyance

Wow, if this works, Andrea Borman's days of posting on the Internet are numbered

If only... At least she hasn't tried to come back here after getting booted out. Some places, she just makes 100's of new accounts constantly...

who is she? and don't send me to her youtube channel - i saw it, and i still don't get what is she about.

She's a lunatic, and some think, a professional troll.

She just goes on to random forums, spouts utter garbage until people start to take her to task, then becomes massively offensive until banned.  She's actually stated that she only joins forums so she can get banned and then complain about it...

Her stint on Mumsnet (a popular support forum for new mothers), resulted in her giving scared young girls extremely graphic accounts (with pics) of gone wrong abortions... A truly sickening person.  If you ever come across her online, avoid like the plague!

Sounds dangerous to me, seems like it could be used to silence legitimate critisism or opposing opinions.

That was my first thought as well - how much can they tweak the algorithm to identify what they will no doubt call "undesirable content".

Expect to be fending off comments along the lines of "you're a conspiracy theorist" or "check your tin-foil hat isnt cutting off the blood supply" etc.. for thinking like this.

Actually I thought she was entertaining! :D

Thanks all, I could have done without remembering that name. :pinch:

However, let's not use this thread to point out specific people. I think others are right in that this algorithm could end up causing more harm than good, at least if it then allows for automatic actions to be taken without a human eye looking at the potential trolls.

Thought she got her ass handed to her when she started posting graphic abortion photos everywhere? Trolls do crap like that and people wonder why I despise them.

Haven't heard anything of her since last year. Maybe the world got lucky and she died. That was an obvious troll and people still argue that she was just misunderstood (those people most likely being other trolls who looked up to her as a leader for their pathetic group). She knew exactly what she was doing. Misunderstood my ass.

Any sort of automated system for sure going to ban legit users with different opinion than say majority or popular view. And while its in the right of sites to remove content they feel is contrary to the majority of the users, etc..  If everyone is just chiming in with the same view -- gets BORING really quick, nobody will be there worth chatting with anyway.. Still if you ask me bad path to head down..

Why don't they just get some human mods??  Forums with feedback and support and participation from the "staff" if you will are always the best run with the best content.

Look at yahoo answers for how crappy a site can be that from such a major player like yahoo should be of some use..
