Since the original was 2 minor and then a major DLC, I assumed they would repeat the process for the next 3 major DLC.

But there's something about 2 building DLC in a row that leaves nothing new for those who don't build, unless it's a Weapons/Armour workshop update this time. :)

I guess it depends on whether you got the Season Pass before or after the price hike, or if you're buying a la carte. If you got it at the lower price, I think you're already square and anything else is a bonus at this point. (That's what I did and that's how I feel about it, at least. YMMV.) If you paid more, I'd say it's a valid complaint, though Far Harbor and Nuka World will probably justify the price hike entirely. And if you're buying a la carte, simply skip them since modders can duplicate most of the work.

I feel like, for the Wasteland Workshop stuff, since the assets are already made (they're used in the base game), they're basically just selling us stuff on the disc, which is partly unfair. The cage/arena stuff from WW1 was new, though, so it was a fair justification of the $5, though it had less content than the similarly priced Hearthfire, for Skyrim. Why can't we adopt kids in Fallout 4 yet? Does anyone want this? Was there a demand for it in Skyrim? I don't recall. What I do recall is a particularly touching scene in Final Fantasy VII where Barret, the big guy with the gun arm and the little girl, finds the girl's father, and the father says his hands are too blood-stained to hold his child anymore, upon dying, and Barret reflects that his hands (or rather, hand) are just as bloody, since they served in battle together. So, I wonder if the Sole Survivor would have a similar crisis of conscience.

MODs are still really buggy as hell.  Some do not even work, other only part way.  Going to go back to my last pre-mod save since I technically have not beaten the game yet.  Been to busy fooling around with stuff.  Only loaded mods to see how they work.   The most useful ones I found so far at the cheat holotapes which can spawn/give you extra crafting material.  Will be handy when I decide to build up more of my settlements.  Seem I always run out of nuclear material.  And tho I do not go out to get every achievement, I like to at least get the ones I would normally get by playing and beating the game.

I couldn't care less about finding Shaun, I don't want more kids to not care about.

I bought the Season pass as soon as they mentioned the price change.

Couldn't have said it better. It's not like any of them are interesting, or even nice. I know two of them (at Vault 81 and Bunker Hill) try to cheat you out of 5 caps. Not like in Skyrim, where, when you kill Grelod the Kind, the little girl comes up to you and says, "Kill one person, you solve so many problems. I wonder about the possibilities." I was like, yeah, adopt this one... but you couldn't at the time.

Did it always say large settlement or did they change it after people used Red Rocket and 1 settler to get it? :o

Heard you can do it with 1 or 2 settlers.  Some say does not have to be a large settlement, some say not.  But I had plenty of resources to make the settlement large.

I did it in Far Harbor on the Echo Lake Lumber settlement.  I did as follows...

6 Settlers, no recruitment beacon

at least 6 beds under cover of a building.  Heard needs to be a bed with a frame (no sleeping bags) but also heard sleeping bags work as well.  Built with frames to be safe.

Build a bunch of wooden crates until settlement bar in workshop became yellow to make it a large settlement.

5 lvl3 Medic shops (5 settlers assigned, one to each shop)

6 multifruit plants (one settler assigned)

Power generator

40 or so water

70+ defense

Heard cats/dogs helps increase happiness as well.

You can leave the settlement but advised to come back every now and then.  Also, advised to dismiss your companion if you have one as it tends to screw things up.  I left the settlement and started to hunt down the magazines and came back every 2 in game days or so.  Each time I did, happiness increased about 3 or 4 points.  Despite what some guide say, you do not have to have a fresh settlement. I did it in far harbor since all my other settlements in the common wealth were well established.

For some reason even without a beacon, I got a 7th settler and had to execute him.

When I completed it I just used red rocket with lots of Turrets, 1 Bed, 1 Shop and 1 Settler. Don't remember ever seeing 'Large Settlement' in the description. It was my 2nd to last achievement so I celebrated by getting the 'Prankster's Return' on him. :shiftyninja:

I really need to get round to doing the Wasteland Workshop achievements, they are the only ones I cba to do yet.

It's always been Large Settlement, but that's based on the size bar (has to be in the yellow), not the square footage of the settlement.

People don't realize, Benevolent Leader is a simple achievement, it just takes a lot of time. And there's some confusion as to what makes happiness. Some we know. Most, we don't. One thing we know is that bars (level 2 food/drink shops) do raise it. Though it's stupid, for role playing purposes, to have more than one, or on the outside, two per settlement. I believe it was confirmed that dogs (bought from the breeder, not Dogmeat) add happiness as well.

Onto speculation, while we know everyone needs a bed and that they're happier with a bed than a sleeping bag, I've heard the clean bed (second bed in the menu) makes them happier than the dirty one (first in the menu). So that's all I build with. Also, that beds should be dry (ceiling above) and lit (light nearby). Since no ceiling can keep out the rain (it's a flaw with the game engine), I tend to build beds, when I can help it, in the structures that come with the settlements, which have ceilings already.

Furthermore, about resources, I've heard settlers will consume 1 unit of food if that's all they have, but will consume up to 2 and be happier for it. So if your food count doubles your population count, that should keep them happy. Not sure on water. I think any excess water just goes straight to the workbench. Of course, if you have supply lines, excess food and water will go to other settlements and that requirement will be satisfied by default, as long as you have a couple farms and water farms.

I've also heard they like you to visit. So what I do is, I put a weapons vendor in each settlement. Go there, buy all the 10mm ammo they have (all I use is my custom Deliverer), and then sell them stuff, like drugs, I've picked up along the way. That's presence in the settlement, and I make some money along the way.

I've heard Happiness 80 is the real barrier — if you're at 80 and no up arrow, you need to do something, but if you're at 81 or higher, it will eventually hit 100 if nothing goes wrong. I've got Egret Tours Marina at 82. Didn't really do anything special for it. Well, I put a ton of work in, but nothing that would count toward Benevolent Leader. Three bars, a weapons shop, everyone has a bed, water and food are good, and defense is better.

Other things include

Don't fast travel out of your settlement. It resets something in the happiness.

  Leave a power armor there.

Have a defense equal to or higher than combined food and water.

Lvl3 med had the highest happiness.

It can be done with one settler but I think easiest is with 6 settlers, 7 beds, 5 medical facilities and 1 farmer.  I got mine with Jamaica Plains.

Things may have changed since then though.

I fast traveled a lot out of the settlement. Didnt mess with anything.  Latest I read is that it is advised to visit every now and then.  Like every few in game days.  Did not need power armor either.  Also, the higher level of happiness you reach, the slower the point increase per cycle.  Takes a few hours real time to get 100 percent happiness.

Anyway, finally got all the magazines.  Had to do the McCready companion quest to get the last one.  PITA getting max infinity on McCready at first since I am so far into the game.  But I figured out the cooldown rate of affinity.  (didnt see anything posted online about the cooldown).  If you wait every 2 days in game, the cooldown refreshes and the next time you steal something, it will popup that he likes it.  Luckily, I had a suit of power armor that was stolen so I just waited by it, added a power core, removed it, McCready liked what I did, then waited 2 in game days and repeated.

If anyone is curious, there is actually 127 magazines.  5 come from the Far Harbor DLC and there are 2 magazines that are duplicates.  The other 120 are from the common wealth.

Maxing MacCready's affinity and getting his perk was so OP when the game was new. For anyone who doesn't know/doesn't remember, the Killshot perk is supposed to give you +20% to head shots, but it gave +2000%, so if you took a head shot in VATS, if you had a clear line of sight, you were guaranteed a hit. Combined with other perks, like Penetration (I think it is, where subsequent hits do more damage) and Gun-Fu, it was absolutely lethal for snipers (and you could snipe with a pistol). Good times. Now that it's fixed, it's only an okay perk. It's almost always better to target center mass (torso), just like in real life.

If you haven't had the opportunity yet, Fallon's Department Store (near the murder maze, east by northeast of Egret Tours Marina) is a fun place to clear. Exclusively packed with Super Mutants. Built for stealth assassinations. Lots of room to maneuver from shadow to shadow and really pick your spots. Only the basement was too cramped and I had to slug it out. There's not a lot of loot to really mention, but there is a hairstyle magazine (Megaton Hair), and a ton of pre-war money. And, though the outside was cleared when I came in, when I left, not only did the mutants outside respawn, but they all saw me immediately even though I was sneaking and had my sneak skills maxed... so that was not fun. Suiciders are really OP, but you know, you can target their arm that's flashing and detonate them from a distance, if you don't mind giving up the mini nuke they drop if you kill them normally.

My favorite Fallout 4 YouTuber, norespawns, has been on point lately, though I think he's been releasing slightly fewer videos. But they're better quality, and he recently took a new job, and I think he's doing more work on the post-production of the videos, so it's all good. Here's him decorating his Dalton Farm build. And here's his Coastal Cottage build, or at least the first part of it. Dude just has a way of building that is entertaining to watch.

One of the reasons I didnt pic MacCready as a companion that early.  To overpowered.  I didnt want things to be to easy.

Do you guys know the rug glitch? I know you guys know the rug glitch. Drop a mat, drop another mat on it like a staircase of mats, then a rug, then place stubborn, non-snapping item (typically junk fences) on it, then use the collision of the first rug to place the item where it wouldn't normally place. Old trick, people have been doing it since November.

Now do you know about the post glitch? The post glitch is kind of the same idea, but using the concrete post (the 1x1 wall) from the Wasteland Workshop DLC. If you don't have WW, the versatility of this glitch is worth the $5, and you can't get it without the concrete kit. Since the concrete post can sink, what you do is, you place something you want sunk, and you place a concrete post next to it. Then you hold A (PC/XB1) or X (PS4) to select all, and you use the post's sinking properties to sink the other thing. Here is the absolutely most brilliant use of the post glitch I've seen Davey (norespawns) solves the Coastal Cottage cave problem, That is, nobody knew what to do with that stupid cave, since you can't build anything in there. If you don't want to click or watch a 10 minute YouTube video, basically place the four-way metal prefab room in an open area, put three caps on it, and a cap with a doorway, and then a door. Now place a concrete post in front of it. Select all (hold A or X), then take it by the post down to the cave, and have the doorway cap sticking out a little. If you've done it right, you've got yourself a little bunker in that cave. Optionally, post glitch in some short steps (Davey uses the concrete set, and I guess they make sense for an underground bunker). It's not perfect, and the ceiling of the cave does clip through a little, but it looks great.

I guess it due to the flags being flagged as available when your status is allied with a faction unlike paint jobs which are unlocks.

After watching Bethesda's E3 show it looks like they are going to keep up with the 2 small 1 large DLC formula. :D

So that's at least 9 months of new DLC  if we have previous amounts of story DLC to go on (F3 5 story DLC and NV 4 story DLC)

Fallout Shelter on PC is also a good thing, My old Tegra 2 XOOM always had texture issues and my phone was just too small to enjoy it. :(

I'm also happy about the free upgrade to Skyrim Remastered :D I've been looking for a reason to complete the main story and having Skyrim in the new Fallout 4 engine is a good enough reason :D

While Nuka-World will be the final add-on for Fallout 4

Well I'm officially annoyed, they elder scrolled Fallout. :/

Looks like Mod support for all was their way of saying you guys can make the DLC from now on. :(

Skip to Nuka world for the info

Have not used MODs much after the first few days they were released.  They were just to buggy.  Maybe they are better now, i dont know.

Building up Echo Lake Lumber now.  Almost fully repaired the building there.   Looks pretty good to.  MODs are nice and all but most people are using them for is the cheat mod to spawn items.

If you like mods and use a PlayStation there's good news, Private mod beta is coming soon to PS4... Downside is Sony only gave you 900mb to play with compared to Microsofts 2gb.

...also uploading mods now requires a steam linked Bethesda account now to help with  the recent stealing of mods and uploading them to the console section.

    • Hey Google, these are the Gemini features I want in 2026 by Aditya Tiwari Google Gemini has been around for over three years. The AI chatbot started its journey back in 2023 (as Bard) when ChatGPT was already a talk of the town. However, it quickly attracted criticism after misrepresenting facts about the James Webb Space Telescope. The search giant spent a year fine-tuning Bard before rebranding the chatbot and its underlying generative AI model to Gemini, drawing inspiration from NASA's first human spaceflight program. Note that Bard was initially powered by LaMDA and PaLM 2; Google has since added several new features and integrations to Gemini. That said, there is scope for improvement and a gap for new features. I have been using Gemini for a while now and have realized that the chatbot lacks several features, making it harder for me to research across topics. These are mostly function-over-form updates that can improve the overall experience. Delete individual messages from a conversation Image via DepositPhotos.com One good thing about Gemini is that it can maintain context throughout the conversation. But things might get chaotic when you want to ask a related question, but don't want it to be part of your conversation in the long run. You can't ask that related question in a fresh chat because Gemini will lose the active conversation context of what you're trying to research. If Google allowed you to delete individual question/answer pairs, you could simply ask about a sub-topic and remove it from the conversation to create a smooth flow of important stuff. Offline mode Image via DepositPhotos.com A big pain of using Gemini daily is that everything loads from the cloud. It takes time for your chats to appear, and you can't view your conversation history while offline. To get a better idea, you can open the Gemini app and see how it looks without an internet connection. While Gemini models run in the cloud, it wouldn't hurt if Google could store chats (at least the text part) on the device so we can refer to them when offline. Google can also offer a lightweight version of its AI model to help with basic drafting, summarization, and other tasks. It has the Gemini Nano model, which can perform on-device processing on Google Pixel, Samsung, and some other Android brands, but it's a system feature and not related to the cloud-based Gemini app. Make temporary chats permanent I can't thank Google enough for taking the time and effort to add incognito mode or temporary chat mode to the Gemini app. It lets you have conversations without worrying that the topics will end up in your chat history or used for model training (at least on paper). Google claims that it doesn't use your temporary chats to "personalize your Gemini experience or train Google’s AI models." However, the data is stored "up to 72 hours to respond to you and to process any feedback you choose to provide." That said, I often start researching something in a temporary chat, only to realize the chatbot's answer is good enough to refer to later. Sadly, Gemini doesn't have an option to make such temporary chats permanent. In other words, I won't be able to follow up on it if I close the temporary chat. I'm left with alternatives like copying the answers into notes or another app. My digital life will get a lot better if Gemini gets a button to make temporary chats permanent. Collapse answers for a cleaner view You're heavily invested in your research game and suddenly feel the need to go up in the chat to recall something. This is when the conversation thread starts to feel like an overwhelming, unending wall of questions and answers. What if Google added a way to collapse Q&A pairs in the Gemini chat thread? It would look quite clean and easy to navigate. You'll quickly get an overview of everything you have discussed with the chatbot. Add buttons to jump between messages Suggested mockup of the feature. This reminds me of a small but useful Gemini feature that Google could add to its chatbot: the ability to hop between prompts in a conversation. Just add simple up- and down-arrow buttons, similar to YouTube Shorts, so people can quickly scroll through the messages. A table of contents or Chat Overview It's hard to get a bird's-eye view of everything you have discussed with the chatbot during a lengthy conversation. This is where a table of contents, or Chat Overview, displayed at the top of the screen, possibly in a drop-down button, might come in handy. You'll be able to get an overview of the chat and jump between messages, serving as an alternative to the up/down arrow buttons. Temporary mode for Gemini Live Image: Google You can use Gemini Live to have real-time conversations with the chatbot, which feels like you're talking to someone in the same room. However, a downside is that Gemini Live doesn't work in Temporary Chat mode, so all your conversations end up in the chat history. Google should consider expanding the temporary chat mode to include Gemini Live. Default to a specific chat One thing that feels somewhat annoying to me is that Gemini always opens in a new chat, whether on web or mobile. Sometimes, you want to return to your last chat. Google can take cues from web browsers, which let you choose whether you want to go to a new tab or a specific web page(s). Gemini can also have options to default to a specific chat when reopened. That said, generative AI chatbots have endless possibilities given the vagueness of their work. You can mold them the way you want by attaching different connectors, adding custom instructions, and including source files. It remains to be seen what Google has in store for future updates and whether anything from this wishlist gets the green light. The search giant released a stream of new Gemini updates in recent months, including Gemini 3.5 Flash and Gemini Omni Spark, adding that it now has 13 products with more than a billion users each. What do you want to see in the Gemini app? Tell us in the comments.
