Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek's Lt Uhura, suffers stroke

 

Nichelle Nichols, best known for her role as Lieutenant Uhura in TV's Star Trek, has suffered a stroke.

"Last night while at her home in LA, Nichelle Nichols suffered from a mild stroke," her agent Zach McGinnis wrote on Facebook.

 

"She is currently undergoing testing to determine how severe the stroke was. Please keep her in your thoughts."

Yes-yes, please get well. You've meant so much to so many, especially young black women. So much so when she thought about leaving Star Trek in S2 MLK asked her not to. She also did major recruitment outreach for NASA.

Need her to pull through and show in in the next Star Trek movie!  She can cameo in it and be the current Uhura's grandmother, I seem to remember talks early on about that possibility.  They should do this, I know James Douhons son showed up in the first one, as a transporter operator, iirc.   It's these little things that make Trek cool IMO.
