Sorry to keep posting, but I think I figured out what was going on with the authentication issue. From TShock:

We are in the process of updating the packet structure for 1.3.0.6.

For those interested - as I found this slightly difficult to find - this is what TShock does. So that explains why the commands aren't working, TShock isn't updated yet for 1.3.0.6.

I see we can't connect to the server again. Oh well, no biggie.

Your character goes with you (whatever is equipped) but obviously storage chests don't move with you from server to server. If you play from different computers also it doesn't transfer, but you can save your toon file fairly easily and move it to another pc.

The game doesn't support Steam Cloud?

It was an accident. One of my summons killed the mob that drops the summoning item above lava causing the wall of flesh to chase us. :o
You can make wings now if you fight some wyverns, they make the transition a lot more fun. :D

Also, since 1.3.0.8 client is out, tshock is out of date.... for now. The tshock guys usually take a day to get a new version out.

However, it is a pain in the ass and I'm pondering just making the server vanilla. Thoughts?

I dread to think how my area looks...I'll duck in to take a look, but this is the problem with the lack of set rules to stop some people. It shows that they can be real ######. :/

EDIT: Maybe I won't? Can't connect to the server, I imagine you've already taken it down to either restart it or just stop it completely?

It was protected when I was running TShock. But Terraria was getting a lot of updates and tshock was lagging behind, so it went vanilla. No protection in vanilla.

I have turned off the server. If that's how people want to behave then there is no point in running the server. I'm not here to babysit. I have my own child to look after, and even he is less destructive.

That's a shame to hear, but you have my support on the decision. I wouldn't have minded looking to see if they had done anything over to the left to spoil my area, but I get it - a lack of common decency over something that was genuinely a wonderful offer will result in something like this.

Neowin couldn't offer to reprimand the person responsible either way (the server is privately owned, blahblahblah,) but I bet they still won't have the gall to come forward and explain their reasoning for raining on the parade.

    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.

    • No thanks! WebView trash is unacceptable. I only use software that's native.
