DeK
i have tried to install my win xp from windows tons of times, during prep install it copies all the files and restarts my computer, when it starts to load i get the error NTLDR is missing, Press any key to reboot. Thats where i reformat computer and try again. Then i heard from someone that i need to make a new partition, so i did, i went to dos, fdisk, deleted my partition, then created a new one, at this point i rebooted the computer with a win98 floppy a boot disc and the winxp cd, i switched directories that i was in to d:, my cdrom and typed d:setup.exe, i got the error that said that it couldn't be installed in dos. what do i do and how do i install xp
linglok
boot from cd, it should ask u whether u wanna install xp or not, say yes and it will install xp from dos fyi, upgrading from existing os is a bad idea, coz sometimes xp won't boot up properly due to driver incompatibilty. well, but this is only my opinon. Toxicfume Veteran Posted September 4, 2001 Veteran Share Posted September 4, 2001 don't forget to run SMARTDRV.EXE(available in the windows directory) before you do whats asy1mpo said, or else your installation will crawl
