the problem is, earlier in the conversation as she stated.. her parents ground her making her severely depressed sometimes i worry about her.

I think you are making a mistake that a lot of people make and that is you are expecting something from someone. There are a couple of things I've come to learn that may help you out. First off no one in this world is out to get you and secondly nobody owes you anything. You have to be responsible for your own happiness, you have to accept yourself for who you are before anyone else will accept you.

I know you've probably heard and dismissed these things before, but this is the truth it doesn't get any simpler than that.
