The fastest image uploading site; faster than Imgur

Just a couple of things that jump out at me:

  • There are no accounts. Not a major issue, but it is linked to my next point
  • There is no ability to go back to your upload at a later date. I uploaded a photo, and while I copied the link when it was presented to me, if I were to copy something else I would not be able to find my upload again.
  • No "gallery." Again, it's not a big deal, but someone has already made the comparison to Imgur and such a feature would also possibly solve the above issue of finding an upload at a later date. Allow users to browse the selection of pictures that have already been uploaded.
  • There's no indication of a storage life. If I upload an image now, is there any sign about how long that image would be available to use?
  • There's also no indication of file types. Am I limited to .jpg files? .gifs? Could I upload a word document to be accesible to others if they had a link? (I see that there is an error message when you try to upload a .txt document saying that such a file type isn't allowed, but where is there information about what is allowed?)

But it's quick and offers a place to quickly (and temporarily) store a picture. I like it, but it won't replace Imgur for me at the moment.

Do you have any plans to implement drag-and-drop uploading like Imgur? :)

Not at the moment. Maybe sometime in the future. :)

You're totally right about accounts and all but I'm not trying to make this site to compete with Imgur at all. To be honest, I'll be willing to even sell this site if someone was interested. I'm trying to keep it as easy as possible. Actually, the reason I created this site was so I could upload images myself and link them onto blogs or forums. I never needed any of the fancy stuff Imgur has. It really just bogged the load time with all the images that showed up the on home page and I'd rather just have a simple upload box. Like I said in a post a few posts above, if I could, I would just have the "Browse" file button with an Upload button on a white background and that would be it but again, people wouldn't like a site without a design lol.

Also, about the files that you could upload, yes you're right. I should probably add that. But that didn't come to my mind because I was the reason why I created the site. haha cheers mate. :)

As others have said, the design is a little basic, but then again, it was originally made for just yourself.

If you do want to make it a little prettier, just drop me a PM, I can rustle you something up. :)

Just so everyone knows - a design is being worked on; for those who suggested a re-design, what are you hoping for, exactly? I'm currently looking into 'modernising' the overall look, including what would be called 'responsive' design, but, really, it's just web design, all designs should be responsive to be used on all devices.

Any specific thoughts are appreciated! :)

how are you moderating this? this would be my first worry

are you taggin on IP of what was uploaded

Lets say someone uploads images of an illegal nature, how are you stopping this as due to you hosting the images the blame would lie with you

How are you tying back the images to a person so that you can trace/ban these people etc?

It's a great project but as Haggis has rightly pointed out, it's a minefield.

You're right. I never thought about that. If you some ideas, can you please PM me? Thanks.

how can you create an image upload site and NOT consider that people will upload dodgy content? Not being funny but that is incredibly naive and you've possibly picked THE most risky area to be naive in. This could go horribly wrong for you if you open it to the public, be aware of the pitfalls and consequences. There are people out there actively hunting for sites like you are creating here.

So far (well, this screenshot was taken a couple hours ago, changes have been made since):

Any suggestions? This was based on no mock-up design, and only about a few hours work (been super busy this week).

Worked on it:

Building in several security features behind the backend of the actual upload process.

    • Actually, when Windows came to "play" decades ago, they never left. Play took over the Operating System to the detriment of business of serious consumer users. Made worse, in the Microsoft removed the option to have a "non-play oriented version of the OS" (as in a separate SKU).
    • ".....hellbent on shoving Copilot down the throats ..." Not great journalism IMHO. Put it in an opinion piece. Besides it's cliché.

    • Windows 11 build 27909 is out with fixes for battery indicator and more by Taras Buria This week's Friday Windows 11 preview build comes from the Canary Channel with a few fixes here and there. No new features or noticeable changes in build 27909, so Windows 11 Insiders get to test several fixes and general improvements. Here is the changelog: [General] This update includes a small set of general improvements and fixes that improve the overall experience for Insiders running this build on their PCs. [Administrator Protection] Fixed an underlying issue where the Xbox app wouldn’t launch when administrator protection was enabled. This may have also impacted other apps too, showing error 0xC0000142 or 0xC0000045. [Settings] Fixed an issue where the battery percentage was unexpectedly missing from the top of System > Power & Battery in the last few builds. [Remote desktop] Fixed an issue causing extreme graphical distortion and rendering issues using remote desktop on Arm64 PCs in the last couple builds. [Other] Fixed a high hitting pcasvc.dll crash in the previous build. Fixed an underlying issue where if you disconnected the device you were casting to from outside of Media Player, Media Player would still show an option to disconnect from the device. Fixed an issue which was causing Remote Credential Guard scenarios between the latest Windows 11 builds and Server 2022 (and below) to fail. The list of known issues includes the following: [General] [IMPORTANT NOTE FOR COPILOT+ PCs] If you are joining the Canary Channel on a new Copilot+ PC from the Dev Channel, Release Preview Channel or retail, you will lose Windows Hello pin and biometrics to sign into your PC with error 0xd0000225 and error message “Something went wrong, and your PIN isn’t available”. You should be able to re-create your PIN by clicking “Set up my PIN”. There’s an issue starting with the latest builds causing a small number of Insiders to experience repeated bugchecks with KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE after upgrading. This may occur when connecting to VPN. This Canary Channel flight comes with a delightful blast from the past and will play the Windows Vista boot sound instead of the Windows 11 boot sound. The fix should be coming in a future Canary Channel flight soon. [Settings] We’re investigating an issue in this build which could cause Settings to crash when interacting with the options under Settings > System > Power & Battery. We’re investigating an issue where some of the apostrophes across text in Settings and settings-related dialogs are not displaying correctly and are showing random characters. You can find the announcement post here.
