Hello guys. Got a problem with a friends Vista machine and the Import Picture Wizard.

All of a sudden it stopped working and when he puts in his SD card nothing happens. I went online and found some articles but did not help me much

I dont know why he still uses Vista but for now it works for him. Anyhow has anyone has this problem before and been able to fix it?

On my Windows 7 machine when I put in a CD, SD Card or USB stick a small window pops up on my desktop and asks me what I want to do. This is what he needs to get back so he can run the Wizard again.

Thanks,

Is AutoPlay enabled? Please see http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-autoplay-settings#1TC=windows-vista AutoPlay_configuration.thumb.png.7960c69

When AutoPlay is enabled a message similar to the following should appear when an external media or device is inserted. Note the option to import pictures.

Yes it is. That is the first thing I checked and that surprised me why it did not work.

Actually it looks like your settings if I recall. I am not in front of the computer as it is in an office.

Are you and / or your friend able to read and write to external devices and media?

Also, have you seen this? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/troubleshoot-autoplay-problems#1TC=windows-vista

AutoPlay doesn't start when I insert a disc or plug in a device.

There are several reasons for this problem. AutoPlay might be restricted by Group Policy, it could be canceled by a program that is running, or the service that AutoPlay needs to start might not be running.

Here are some things to try:

  • Ask your network administrator if AutoPlay is restricted by Group Policy, and if so, what to do instead.

  • Close other programs that might be interfering.

  • Follow these steps:

    1. Click the Start button Picture of the Start button, click All Programs, click Accessories, and then right-click Command Prompt.
    2. Click Run as administrator.

    3. At the command prompt, type net start shellhwdetection, and then press ENTER.

    4. Restart your computer.

When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish.
