I feel this is one of the most ironic comments I've ever seen. Thanks for the chuckles, Nik.

Sorry mate, but you've asked some pretty simple tech questions before and then called out others when they've asked what you deem to be daft questions.  I'm not sure that it's on you to question the information I post when attempting to contribute to a neowin bug.

Everyone is on a learning curve, so before you are critical of others on that curve, take a moment to evaluate your position.

Bah, getting the same thing in Firefox had to log on with chrome to reply to this.  reset\clear cookies didn't help.. arg....

It's the cache you want to clear in Firefox, not the cookies.  I had the problem before clearing my cache, and haven't had it since doing so.

*that or just not with it this morning and didn't noticed if I had it all checked the first time I did the clear history in FF.

I'm having the same issue. I have to switch browsers and keep hitting refresh until it shows the text editor. very annoying.

just did it to me in PMs.

Everyone thinks it is cache, but cached issues shouldn't go away and then come back later.

I cannot even reply on my phone anymore, even with clearing data and storage. It worked earlier but does not now.

FFM, CTRL + SHFT + R always does a nice clean refresh for me. Fixed this issue up on the comps i was having an issue with.

Things are improving, however, if I edit a quoted comment to remove parts I'm not replying to, BEFORE I type my reply, I can no longer type into the reply area below the quote.  Also, I can no longer split a quoted section.

Note: This only happens if I remove text at the bottom of the quote.

Splitting quotes started working today... Weird.

Congratulations on the upgrade, the forums are now even WORSE than before!

Either you can't reply, or if you quote and edit, and click submit, you get your post wiped and the error "This field is required".

Don't you lot ever actually TEST things?

Working great here for me. I can't believe how rude this comment is. First of all, Neowin is small. Secondly, they acknowledge the ipb4 upgrade was terrible NOT Neowin's fault, but IPB's. Third, the forums are faster, mobile responsive, and better looking. Lastly, they are doing everything they can to squash bugs.

1. Neowin is not small, not even remotely small.

2. IPB are at fault for releasing bug ridden software, Neowin are at fault for not testing properly before upgrading.

3. I find them no faster than before, either on desktop or mobile. If anything, the new script way of loading a page is infinitely worse as it totally screws over being able to go forwards/backwards through threads.

4. It wasn't rude, it was factual and called for considering the complete cluster frak the 4.0 upgrade was. They should have learned from that and had 4.1 under test for longer, with a wider range of users testing it.

The thing is, we even told them they needed to setup a test environment and invite everyone to test before deploying. They did not and here we are.

Anyone having this issue should clear cache and all Neowin related cookies, in most modern browsers you can now delete cookies by name, and not have to clear them all. It's possible things from the previous forum version are interfering with the updated forum version. Yes, this is an old site and we have a lot of old accounts, when software for the site is updated, we don't automatically update all of our clients cache and preferences :p

Help us out here by first doing the above steps and then report if still broke.

    • I used a Pixel 10 Pro XL when it first came out for about 8 months. When I first got it, it was using Google assistant and that was fast, when asking it to call somone etc. Then it automatically switched with some update to Gemini. Doing even the simplist of things like asking it to call someone in my contacts was soooooo slow compared to Google assistant. I guess it had to go out to the cloud to do that? Back on iPhone and while Siri is dumb right now, it does do those simple things, like call someone, set a timer, star the stop watch etc, really fast. That an while I like Google Material Design 3 over iOS 26, they Pixel 10 Pro XL was so slow in comparison to the iPhone 17 Pro I am using.
    • I use Gemini in my rotation of AI clients...that work pays for. It is good at most things, better than copilot for imgage searching and making images, worse at writing vs Claude and way worse at hadling technical issues when it comes to Azure stuff. I also use YT premium and maps. Anything else Google is a pass for me. I have now seen multiple people locked out of their Google accounts for reasons that are just very vauge.
    • Microsoft is building an AI datacenter that "uses less water than a fast food restaurant" by Ivan Jenic Image: Microsoft Microsoft has announced plans to build a new datacenter campus in Pecos, Texas, as the company continues to invest billions in AI infrastructure. The new facility, called project Kilby, will reportedly have a capacity of 2 gigawatts and will be one of the largest single capacity additions in the company’s history. To power the campus, Microsoft signed a 20-year deal with Chevron to supply natural gas from the Permian Basin, America's largest oil field. This deal is set to become the largest collaboration to date between a U.S. oil and gas giant and Big Tech. It’s no secret that Big Tech has often been criticized for exploiting natural resources for its AI developments. Microsoft is trying to mitigate some of that negative consensus by promising to build its own power supply for the new datacenter, independent of the public grid. The Pecos datacenter will be powered by a power plant hub, built by Chevron, with up to 2.5 gigawatts of gas-fired capacity, with potential to scale to up to 5 gigawatts. The facility will include at least seven GE Vernova turbines, with first power potentially coming online as early as late 2027 or early 2028. The power plant hub is part of an approximately $7 billion investment by Chevron, making it one of the largest dedicated energy projects tied to a single datacenter campus in the U.S. Microsoft hasn’t publicly disclosed the amount it’s investing in the new datacenter. Microsoft has also committed to implementing a closed-loop cooling system that will only require an initial water charge to operate. The company said that “the total lifecycle water use of this datacenter is only a fraction of that consumed annually by a typical fast-food restaurant.” What the press release doesn’t mention, however, is how much water the natural gas plant itself will consume, or how a 20-year fossil fuel commitment squares with the company's pledge to be carbon negative by 2030. The construction of the new datacenter should provide over 6,000 construction jobs at peak build-out, and create hundreds of operational job roles once the facility is built. Via: Reuters
