Also, totally unrelated, but why can I not use BBcode? Is that not a thing anymore?

This is my man cave and my place of work (at home)

I Rebuilt my Pc in October.

i7 Skylake, 32gb DDR4, 512gb NVME drive etc, very little to actualy take a picture of once its built.

In January I got myself a few new Christmas presents for it ...

The PHILIPS Brilliance BDM4065UC Ultra HD 40" LED Monitor, and I finally got a sound output worthy of my Rokit 8 Monitor speakers, a USB soundblaster X-fi coupled with a Musical Fidelity V90 DAC .  Wish you could hear how good it sounds,  next on my list is the KRK Rokit matching Studio Subwoofer, there's plenty of punchy mid-bass, but it would be nice to get the sub-bass too.

Pictures ...

My Desk now ...

The DAC ..

The Creative Soundblaster thingy (TBH this serves as a volume knob and gives a clean optical out, its other features are unused)..

The Rest of my office ....

Workshop area for repairs and builds ...

Mobile Devices ...  Surface Pro 3 (i7 / 8gb / 512gb) iPad mini 4 16gb LTE with Logitech keyboard, HP Stream 7, Lumia 930 (Plus iphone 6 128gb in my hand)

My 2 old Monitors are behind, I was thinking I may get 2 monitor arms and put them either side of my new one in Portrait orientation.

USB Hub/ Phone/ Printer / Paperwork etc zzzz

I've got cupboards full of paperwork and spare parts (mostly used) etc behind me but there's no need to post that here.

Was talking the Photo for reasons and decided to post it here as well.

First, yes, that is a Kushan Mothership. Second, yes, that is a Mad Cat OmniMech.

Laptop off the edge is an older Apple MacBook Air 13".

Flanking monitors are Dell 23" Ultrasharps U2311H, centre is a 27" HP Pavilion 27cw.

Soundsystem is a Z5500, as I'm sure most people can recognize given it's been around for an age. Headset is a wireless Creative Tactic 3D Omega.

Keyboard is a SteelSeries Apex RAW. Mouse is a Logitech Performance MX. Also shown is a Logitech Harmony 700 Remote, which is one of the greatest things ever invented.

Controller is a Steam Controller.

1) I think that looks more like "The Pride of Higara" itself than the Kushan Mothership - there doesn't seem to be that empty space in the front, from where we can see it.

2) Where did you get that *and* the Mad Cat / Timber Wolf?

(You can surmise that I'm very much a "Homeworld" fan (looking forward to "Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak"!!) *and* a MechWarrior / BattleMech fan as well)

To sum it up: Well done!

Thanks :)

The Mad Cat is a WizKids miniature/toy/whatever you want to call it, just happened to find in a comic/game/etc hobby store. I never played the WizKids game but I saw it and had to have it, as the Mad Cat is the iconic Mech of my time (I got into MechWarrior/BT with MechWarrior II). I'd kill for a decent small model of one, the TT Ones are too small, and the big one is too rare/expensive lol. I do have a TT version of the Ryoken (Stormcrow) also.. you know, to go with my name handle and all :)

Pride of Higara, Mothership.. close enough in my book :p

I want toe Deserts of Kharak, but alas it's probably gonna be a while before I can afford it :(

Also waiting on the new Battletech game by HBS :)

All of this taken from an Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ze551kl

I think you and I have similar desks. Although, yours looks like a corner one where mine is just rectangular. How do you find having a glass desktop?

I found mines at office depot. It believe the brand is from Realspace

Here is mine for 2016. Not much have changed since late 2015 other than the new wall mount for speakers, and upgrading my AC USB antenna from a Linksys USB 2.0 one to a Netgear USB 3.0. Oh and some better cable management :)

    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
