NFS Underground Patch

I read that there is a patch available for NFS:U and when I try using the auto updater it tells me there is a patch avalable. Yet the auto updater doesn't seem to work properly and after I use it and try playing multiplayer it says there is a new patch available which I need to download. I read the tech support articles on the EA website about the auto updater and tried stuff they suggested but it still doesn't work.

Can I just download the file from somewhere? or does ne one know how to get this to work?

I've already trie dthat auto updater.. It didn't seem to do anything despite telling me there is a patch available. It just says patch downloaded after I click on download patch and then IE crashes.

I don't think you can download it normally from the EA site. You have to use the auto updater thing which won't work properly.

as far as i know, no you cannot.

Set IE to the lowest Privacy level, clear your temp net files, clear cookies, clear bout everything.

Go to Downloaded Program Files in the Windows Directory and delete the EARTPatchXclass or whatever it is and remove it.

Then go back to the site and try again.

M<ake sure you have the permissions on your system to install the Downloaded files/Active X Control, as these go into your Windows directory i think or System32 folder.

Then try again and see how it works.

I tried everything you suggested and used windows washer and closed Zonealarm and it still did the same thing. Why can't they just have normal patches like every other game rather then trying to simplyify things and mess it up.

You live in England -> http://www.eagames.com/official/nfs/underground/us/patch.jsp will download speed.exe and a fx folder to your desktop or other place which it seems to make up by itself.

Download from -> http://www.eagames.com/official/nfs/underground/en/patch.jsp (note the EN instead of US for England)

and it should update fine.

there is always a cracked patch... for last resort but if you have retial version i dont think you would want to use the crack patch

Well, if its a legit game, contact customer support if you registered it.

Might be able to send it to you via email or give you a location to download it properly but contact customer support. Thats what its there for.

I'll try contacting customer support but they've never been much use in the past.

One parting note i must add.

To all those people out there who complain about the way you have to patch the game, i agree with you.

The patching system they use for NFS:U has to be the crappiest piece of **** i have ever come across.

For gods sake and for many peoples sanity, make a available patch download with a installer so we can easily patch our systems like most other games have available if the online patch system does not work.

Surely they must have a brain or two and respond to people demands.

ATMO, they truely suck and can blow me.

...it lets you download an exe which you double click to install the patch.

Make sure you pick either the US or Europe depending on what version you have etc etc

Now to find out what version I have, the box has lots of UK stuff on it but the auto update link goes to the US site... I'll try the UK one first.
