We offered him a contract but he didnt accept. He made a counter offer to the Os which they have not responded too. Now the mets and dodgers are after him, but sources say they dont have the money to beat our offer.

Mets have a great chance to get them thought because it is "New York" (BOOO), and LA does have a large ethnic population.

I think its gonna be a toss up of the Os and Mets

Man, we need to drop the hammer and close the deal. I mean, i know it's alot of money. But, I attended plenty of of games with attendence at 50% or below. A competitive team will bring the fans back. Get it done Angelos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He'll sign with the O's eventually. The Orioles have wanted Vlady from the beginning, and they'll get him in the end. I wouldn't worry about the situation that much.

That said, next year's going to be an interesting season. This is the first time in a long while that I honestly believe that Yankees might not win first place in the AL East, which is pretty unbelievable.

Orioles sources told The Baltimore Sun that the team has made marked progress in negotiations with Guerrero, perhaps the best available free agent this offseason. In fact, an unnamed, high-ranking Orioles official told The Sun that "you can pretty much bet that deal's going to be made."

Guerrero was expected to make a final decision within 48 hours, sources told the New York Daily News on Wednesday night.

However, there is a VERY good chance he will end up a MET

ALSO!!!!!

Baltimore also is close to an agreement to re-sign first basman Rafael Palmeiro, The Sun reported. Palmeiro hit 214 home runs between 1994 and 1998. The 39-year-old free agent, who has 528 career homers, played the last five seasons for the Texas Rangers.

NICE!! I love him, sad when we lost him. I havent been this excited for the Os in a long time.

By signing Palmeiro and Guerrero, the Orioles would have a massive difference in power in their lineup from last year. They have already signed All-Stars Tejada and Javy Lopez, who hit a combined 70 homers last year. By adding Guerrero and Palmeiro, the foursome would carry 133 home runs from last season.

I just hope that the money spent on Palmero doesn't detract from the money that we are willing to spend on Vlady. But, that being said, Palmero was a great oriole, and he will be again. Hopefully he can retire here.

It wont take away from what we would offer vlady. He is asking for more then he is worth. He wants a long contract yet he has a bad back and didnt play for half of last season. He is a gamble. We dont need another scott erikson
