What should I do with a Mac Mini?

I always hated how massive and heavy those Mac Minis are.  Makes it literally impossible to load into a vehicle or moving truck.

I have to use a hand truck to move mine across the room.

I bought one not long ago off ebay with an SSD, have to admit it makes it a perfectly usable machine. I have a 2011 model

They are good machines. The new ones have locked down ram upgrades though.

I have a 2012 model with an i7, 16GB of ram and TWO SSDs.

Someone is moving put out of town so he's giving me a Mac Mini.

What should I do with it?

A Mac mini can be used for almost anything a desktop Mac can be used for - the only real lack (for a mini) is discrete GPU support.  The only headache with minis are the oldest of them (Core Duo-based) - and that is due to incompatibility with the latest versions of OS X; if it's based on Core 2 or later, you're largely fine.

Please provide proof. That is not asking for too much one when considers your other topics.

I prefer to keep things simple. The reason for the timestamp is so we know he is telling the truth.

You would have better luck wishing upon a star.

I would put better storage in it and use it as a media server on my home network. Can't be too much power usage for something that small... in theory.

Or can you stick linux on it? USB wifi dongles? Could make a Tor router that you connect to via wifi that all content that passes in and out goes through tor.

    • Recycle Bin has been broken for literal YEARS now. The setting to delete files older than 30 days from the bin which is on by default doesn't even work. I have files older than 4 months in it and they are just there still...

    • Isn’t it so sweet Microsoft after so many years of neglect, they admit to these issues in Windows lately? Doesn’t this just make you wanna run out and meet them halfway to give them a warm hug only? Just gives us this warm fuzzy feeling thinking about it. /s
