Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet, battery charge

Recommended Posts

Could the battery be going bad ?

I've had this tablet about 2 years.

I charge it up to 100% -- which used to last about 6 hours.

Now when I use it away from home, after say, 2 hours, I get a battery-low warning -- plug device in.

But the strange thing is, when I get home and plug in the charger, the screen says anywhere from 30 to 70% charge left.

Any ideas ?

I added a battery charge management app.

It seemed to help a little.

But after using the tablet for about 3 hours, it said 10% power left.

Plugged it in at home -- read 56%.

Something in the OS software must be screwy.

Maybe I will back-up files and do a Factory reset.

I'm thinking battery abuse, try draining it completely, and then a couple of power cycles

other than that, probably needs a battery change

what I do find interesting however, is that I have the 2010 version of that tablet and it'll go weeks between charging, (but that's very light use and reading)

I never abused the battery -- it was asking for it .... :p

well I hope you taught it a lesson it will not forget in a hurry

I hate when batteries think they can do whatever they want without fear of repercussion...........

wait, what were we talking about?

If you have done a full reset/made sure its not an app using CPU or making the tablet sleep correctly then I would just replace it.

Never ever let your battery go to 0% it destroys Li-Ion batteries doing so. Let them get to minimum 35% and then recharge them to 100% and then disconnect them.

I hear everyone say this, but to be honest I'm not even sure what this means, I've always fully discharged my lithium batteries

(By this I mean the device will turn off from lack of power <I understand that there is still power within the cell and it's not completely 0%> sometimes I won't even bother charging the device until the next morning, and devices like my note 10.1, or my 2012 moto g still run fine)

If it's a guideline, then so be it.

I think 10% is about the lowest it ever gets.

I mildly panic and turn it off.

For the first couple of years, I could rely on my tablet to go 6 hours.

I don't understand why the 2 different readings, saying 10% when it really is 56%, or whatever.

Oh I believe you

(personal experience, and I do mean personal, I'm only speaking for myself, I've never had a battery issue, my first lithium ion battery device was a nokia 8110 I think, done it ever since)

No, it'll be whatever the current operating system version it is running at the time

as far as I can tell it basically wipes all user data (not on the sd card if applicable) and restores the installed os

Then you'll have to re download all your apps (not a problem as play store keeps a record) and restore your personalised settings

    • This is weird. Mythos is more unrestricted compared to Fable. Technically it poses more risk!!
    • This is a great thing, I always have issues with Verizon while inside of certain football stadiums due to the saturation and walls blocking signal so a LOS way to connect would be great. Verizon was supposed to be offering sat data this year but I've not heard a word of it lately. Dude is sending rockets into space in a cheap manner, low waste foot print and has a great product with solar/battery tech. We would be so far behind China right now if not for him and a push to get back into space.
    • illegally? Proof of that? Seems you are posting misinformation or well a pure straight up lie cause there is zero proof of such a thing. But I get it...
