inXile has announced Wasteland 3.

The party-based post-apocalyptic role-playing game sequel is set for launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at the same time as PC, Mac and Linux.

inXile said to expect vehicles, environmental dangers and a revamped, more fluid action system.

But the headline new feature is story-driven synchronous or asynchronous multiplayer. You also get to improve your Ranger Base.

Wasteland 3 is set in frozen Colorado. There's a revamped dialog tree system from the writers of Torment: Tides of Numenera, inXile's in-development fantasy RPG.

You start the game as the sole survivor of Team November, a Ranger squad. In Colorado, no-one has ever heard of the Desert Rangers, so you have to build your reputation from scratch.

In multiplayer, you and a friend both control your own squad of Rangers. While the core of Wasteland 3 is a single-player experience, if you play with a friend while both online, you can share missions. But you can also split up and cover more ground.

Wasteland 3's crowdfunding campaign is underway! Back us on Fig today: https://www.fig.co/campaigns/wasteland-3

Wasteland 3 will be a party-based roleplaying game with an emphasis on deep reactivity, replayability, and strategic combat. It will be playable in single player and synchronous/asynchronous multiplayer, and released on Windows, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Wasteland 3 will feature deep turn-based combat with carefully-crafted encounters, evolving on Wasteland 2's strategic options. The game will also include an engaging dialog tree system to tell a branching story (written by the celebrated writers of Torment: Tides of Numenera), and set in the frozen lands of post-apocalyptic Colorado.

Backed.

Not really sure about the Fig platform but this is not a bad deal at all.  I managed to get the early backer tier and apparently I'm a super backer (I may have a bit of a Crowdfunding addiction...) so I got a further $5 discount for a total pledge of just $20.  Loved 2 so I can't wait for 3. (personally I couldn't care less about the multiplayer being added... I do like the new dialog system and vehicles will be cool though)
