Second time I had to write this post ;-)! Neowin nuked the first one when I hit on the Submit Topic button.

I been having issues with the Neowin page not loading past the main page. I type in the page and the page loads, I can scroll up and down to browse the articles and as soon as I touch the article title, the page freezes and nothing happens. Can't scroll up or down, nothing loads, the web browser app shows the little loading icon but nothing happens. HOWEVER Chrome is still responsive, I can open other tabs, load any other pages while the tab with Neowin just sits there not doing anything. I close it, reload the page again and the same issue still happens.

I use a LG Neon LG-H343 with stock Android 6.0, a Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70F with stock Android 5.0.1 & Chrome version 54.0.2840.68 (General Release from the Google App Store) on both devices.

I think that there is an 'add that becomes truncated' and thus it renders the page useless. Reloading the page doesn't work, rebooting the devices doesn't work, clearing the cache, cleaning app data, uninstalling and reinstalling apps does not work, and to the best of my knowledge I don't have any special settings on my internet connection that would prevent any components of the page from loading.

I have no issues with my Windows 10 PC and Chrome Version 54.0.2840.71 m (64-bit) [Just noticed a new update being downloaded.] Also I just whitelisted the website on AddBlockPlus {with it enabled or disabled the web page loads fine}

What else can I do other than just check this news article webpage on my computer?

EDIT: CPU usage jumped up to 28% after I whitelisted Neowin on my AddBlock Plus and relaunched Chrome. Shame really that I can't read a web page without it making extra Carbon Monoxide due to higher CPU cycles produced from adds that I rarely see.

I have an open support ticket regarding the instances where the page doesn't complete loading and have sent screenshots of the truncated error (happens on desktop Chrome too) The odd thing is, is that it only happens in Chrome. Meanwhile I am on a Moto G4 Plus and Chrome doesn't freeze for me and I can still click through to an article while the ads are still loading in the background (no modded Chrome or extensions here).

I will investigate a bit further, maybe I have a fix. Will test it this morning.

    • Haven't really used it much for years, not specific to Windows 11.. it's there but I mostly ignore it. I do install StartAllBack though bust mostly for the other bits that it brings. I prefer the "alt-space" type launchers (KRunner in Plasma, Flow in Windows or the like), a lot less clutter and more smarts like bookmark/history searches and other useful plugins.
