L tried other browsers.

Reinstalling Chrome.

Must be something funky going on with Xfinity.

I ran DNS Jumper and it took an unusually long time to test the DNS servers.

We are having extreme cold in PA tonight.

May be affecting cable internet.

no, shouldn't need to if configured properly. Can you elaborate?

Edit: works as it should, and the task ends properly. I don't understand. ???

So I rebooted my desktop, and then Chrome worked right away.

I guess a Reboot is always the first step to try ....

All is well again. :)

So, your browser glitches out and your first instinct is to post about it here?  Before even rebooting your machine to see if that fixes it.  Dang, bro.  Sounds like you're just kinda lonely.

All other browsers, and Internet was working.

Only Chrome was not connecting.

It was late and I was tired.

Sue me for not thinking clearly ...

It's a conspiracy!

Only if there's a YouTube video to prove it !

Chrome wouldn't connect again tonight.

Yes, I rebooted to fix it.

But why would only Chrome not connect while Firefox does ?

Running the latest Chrome.

Bug in the software .... ?

I tried completely uninstalling Chrome, removing Registry entries, turning off malware protection, then reinstalling Chrome.

Still doing the gray screen; not connecting.

I can only guess it is related to Windows updates.

Chrome is not connecting at all now. :/

Edited by Hum

1)uninstall

2)delete manually chrome folders

3)delete \******\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome folder

4)install offline version to chrome1 folder

I see now what the problem is.

There is something incompatible between the latest Chrome and my Malware protection.

When I set protection to maximum, Chrome is blocked from connecting.

So I set protection to 1 lower setting.

Chrome works normally now.

    • Nice rant! Expletive after expletive after expletive. Poor petal, I've touched a nerve. Would you like a tissue to wipe those tears away. Btw, nice one calling Neowin trash. Why would you stick around when you disrespect this site and the people behind it? Just go away if you feel that way.

    • This is of course "clickbait" WTF? It is literally your example but tech based. A "clickbait" title is a sensationalized headline designed to manipulate readers into clicking a link using things like "fear" rather than delivering objective facts. A "clickbait" headline also usually provides little value compared to the hype generated. How does this headline not qualify? It's a generic often reused headline that is overly sensationalized. Oh no! "millions" can't use this app anymore. It has no basic facts like what f*cking app. You read the article and it's the Samsung VPN which no one cares about and there is a million free VPNs. How are you defending this ######? Headlines like this (and among other things) make me read Neowin much less than I used to in the past. It's trash...
