No. Instead it just spied on them and intercepted their leaders private phone calls.

That is just a little what US government does. US government is by far largest cyber criminal in the world.

Why - because it conducts espionage at all?

Do you really believe that any government (regardless of size) doesn't spy?

All governments conduct espionage - it's been going on longer than even Great Britain - which is older than the United States - has existed.

In fact, chew on this - the largest espionage organization on the planet is not a government-operated one; however, governments all over the world rely on it.

It is Cable News Network (CNN).  Yet despite even CNN, there are things that get hidden (successfully) from the eyes and ears of CNN that governments want to know.  Basically, there is NEVER enough information.

There never WILL be enough information, either.  Folks want to hide things, and someone, somewhere, will want to find out what is being hidden.

Unless you go completely off the grid, the snoops will be out there, prowling and growling - like it or not.  Railing on one government's snoopery means not a whit compared to the rest of them.  Why the hate on the US in particular - when the snoopery could be from the UK?  Or the Swedes?  Or even the Swiss?
