I doubt there is an easy way to prevent this, but is it really that big of a deal? I think there are still a few, higher priority bugs the devs are ironing out before they would tackle something like this. One can easily see the original comment and base their judgement off of that, rather than a quote with edits. I am sure there is a forum rule somewhere that would relate to this, no one should be editing a quote to mis-represent what the original author stated or putting words in someones mouth, I think reporting that post would suffice?

Next time I will direct a question via a PM as you cannot fix this. It is a big deal when there is not a notification that it was done,,What you think should suffice is not relevant.

When a member quotes another member, editing the quote should not be possible. Is this a Bug or an issue that was just overlooked. It should not be even permitted by the Forum Software,

Interesting idea, Gary.  It would help keep some people from creating off-topic snarky remarks.

For once we agree on something. (Y) Gary's just being silly because I changed his quote from "Make The World Great Again" to "Make America Great Again". It was a joke edit that he is taking seriously for some reason.

No I am not. It appears that reading English is a problem here. I have been edited in the past without a notification as you did.

Most forum software allows you to change it because it means you can quote certain bits or add notes. It should indeed be allowed by the forum software.

It's not the software. It's up to admins to decide about the permissions on the forum.

The quote editing has been around for many years... now you are so bend out of shape about it.

When a member is quoted the words that the member posted should not be changed period and the forum software should prohibit it. I believe in bulletin=tin forums and others it is not possible. If it is ever done again without a notification, I will do as Circaflex suggested . When you edit and change the members post, you are changing what the member posted and are violating this person's belief that what he/she posts will remain in tact and not altered by another member. This is just not right.

Don't beat him up because you didn't do this in the first place, bro.  You posted a comment in the forum, then jumped down the throat of the the first person to respond because it didn't resolve your issue?  From my perspective and opinion, your entire post is not relevant.

It is not up to you to decide. IMHO this section should be only answered by Staff that can do something about the problem at hand.

That would mean others couldn't express if they had a similar problem. It also means if they had a solution they wouldn't be able to post it.

If I had known you couldn't take a joke, I honestly wouldn't have posted it. I'll admit that's my fault.

Let me explain to you what I can decide, Gary: 1) I can decide to post in a forum that is open for all members to post in.  I didn't decide how the issue you raised should be handled, though.  My comment didn't attempt to do that.  2) I can decide that I disagree with your assertion regarding editing quoted posts.  Like others said, it's nice to take a small phrase from someone's post and respond to just that, or bold it to make it more obvious.

I didn't attempt to decide anything.  Additionally, the 'H' in IMHO stands for humble.  You don't necessarily sound that way in your responses here.  Finally, the "problem at hand" appears to be primarily your problem, not a site or forum problem.

I said stop the bickering. This seems to be more an issue of a particular post than an issue with the forum. Anyone involved in whatever happened please PM me and explain it and point out where it is. Do not air your dirty laundry in public.
