elliot
raptors, then maxtor, then normal western digitals i voted maxtor because raptors are too expensive  Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/133538-poll-best-hd-brand/page/4/#findComment-1741170 Share on other sites

LordHatrus
I'm with elliot, raptors are waay to expensive to be good in a price/performance comparison... However, I like seagate, WD, and maxtor, probably in that order. xplatinum
mmmmm probably a noob question but is the 8mb cache really worth it and how does it affect performance ? sjiggag23
i cant decide between wd and seagate. but seeing as that i've never used a seagate.... RufioPan
I have to vote Seagate because they've never given me any problems, and for all the other brands I have heard one horror story or another. I admire them because they've never gone after the title of "largest drive capacity", but instead they've aimed to provide a fast and stable product. You have to respect that when it comes to data storage.. dreamthief
mmmmm probably a noob question but is the 8mb cache really worth it and how does it affect performance ? 8mb cache is definitely worth it. Besides it just a couple of bucks difference from 2mb versions. Notable performance tranferring large files, working with fairly large files. In plain english, lots of data movement harddisk activity Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/133538-poll-best-hd-brand/page/4/#findComment-1741428 Share on other sites

Rage
I have to agree, I have a 120GB Seagate and a 120GB Maxtor. You can't even hear the Seagate, but the Maxtor makes tons of noise.
