W10 doesnt really need Trim checked, it will detect its on an SSD and do it automatically, but no harm in double checking post migration. Yeah I checked my PC and it is enabled, I think the earlier comment was for cloning over, to ensure that it's enabled after.

Steven P. Administrators Posted July 5, 2017 Author Administrators Share Posted July 5, 2017 Well I installed the new memory kit, and the Windows Experience tool went from 5.5 to 6.8 on memory, overall is just 4.6 though due to gaming graphics score. I am now going to attempt the Windows 10 upgrade, if that goes smoothly I will order the Samsung EVO SSD. Wish me luck! I will post finish time here later, but I am literally pressing to upgrade when I post this.
Steven P. Administrators Posted July 5, 2017 Author Administrators Share Posted July 5, 2017 Well that failed hard, upgrading gave the same problems with multiple devices not having enough resources so they couldn't start I am rolling back to Windows 7 now, which actually works. Maybe I will find an article online about this laptop and upgrading to Windows 10 solutions. Among many chip/storage controller related items in device manager that failed to start wifi and ethernet couldn't start either, I spent hours trying to resolve that on Monday without success. Oh well
The Evil Overlord
Try (an old xp trick) making a copy of your system32 folder and driver locations onto a flash drive, nuke it, clean install 10, then force windows to look at the sys32 folder on the flash drive. (Might need compatibility mode). I remembered doing something extremely similar to this, on a clevo d9t when something broke and it refused to boot, (after the 'fix' I was able to install 7, ran for about a year before it finally died)

Something completely different when you get this error in device manager, have you tried deleting the device and seeing if windows will install a newer driver?. As that does look like a compatibility problem with the windows 7 drivers you have already installed, maybe you can install the chipset drivers for the motherboard, this may fix this error
goretsky Supervisor Posted July 6, 2017 Supervisor Share Posted July 6, 2017 Hello, I found a page with links to all the Windows 10 drivers for the Acer Ferrari 5000: https://acersupportcentre.com/acer-ferrari-5000-driver-download/. I believe this is a third-party page, but the drivers are direct download links to Acer's download servers. You might want to download and unpack all the drivers you need, place them onto a USB flash drive or DVD, and then try a clean install of Windows 10 without a network connection, followed by installing the drivers from the local media. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky

Will try dis, but I am a bit wary because the last time I clean installed and tried to install drivers from Acer (support up to Win7) I would get a BSOD in Windows 10 :'( The Evil Overlord 1 Share
