gapi32.dll

Recommended Posts

I was running windoctor (norton systemworks 2002) today and i came up with this error under the Missing program files category:

Missing File: "c:windowssystem32mapisrvr.exe"

Problem "c:windowssystem32mapisrvr.exe" cannot acces a necessary file. "gapi32.dll"

I went to google and found a newsgroup post that had me add a value to the registry for gapi32.dll, but i am still getting the error when i run windoctor again. Is this something that is important or is it just an incompatability issue/bug with norton and/or win xp pro. If it is something that can be fixed, please reply with anything you know concerning this windoctor error. Thank you :)

search your puter for that file, if it doesn't exist try extracting it from winxp cd to winsystem32

or if everthing works fine and you don't experience any prblms just forget about that error.

windoc sometimes complain about really usless things

You are better off to just ignore this in windoctor. This happens on every 2000/XP machine. In Windoctor, it gives you the option to ignore problem this in the future, your best bet is to do just that.

I have Norton Utils running on many 2000/XP machines and eveyone has that issue, so it's normal issue.

Mapisp32.exe is run by Outlook (not Outlook Express) and Exchange32.exe is run by Exchange for NT.

Mapisvr.exe is part of Windows Messaging, but my guess is that it interfaces with Exchange server because I don't see it used when sending/receiving mail with either Outlook or Exchange (non Exchange server connections). I don't know what Gapi.dll is used for, but it's also in the Windows Messaging and the system32 directories (like mapisvr.exe and mapisp32.exe)
