soloredd: I honestly don't give a **** what Kid Rock or Janet Jackson do, but I hate for people to be ****ing hypocrites. I was merely pointing out that if all these self proclaimed, easily offended, "moral & upstanding" people were so damn offended by seeing a tittie on TV, you would think they would be offended by flagrant disrespect of their flag on TV as well.

I personally don't consider myself "easily offended" or whatever (if anything, I'm most "offended" with this particular stunt by Timberlake's insulting "costume malfunction" claims after-the-fact)....but....

Frankly, Kid Rock appearing in a cut-up flag was a bit offensive as well. Yes, it's generally against "respectful practice" for people to treat the flag as such, and it was even a bit weird as he was singing about how he was proud to live in the USA or whatever the lyric was.

For that matter, I even remember when Bono had a jacket lined with a U.S. flag when he sang at the Superbowl shortly after 9/11, and even that took me back for a second.

U.S. flag's an interesting thing -- if anything, it can sort of increase in its "power" as people are, generally, free to ignore "guidelines" and treat it as they choose, even burn it publicly, frankly. Can make me raise my eyebrow at someone, but not a big thing I take as personal offense.

On the other hand, being flashed unexpectedly by someone (who's planned it in advance in violation of broadcasting legalities) when I generally think I'm watching an Americana sporting event fun for the whole family is a bit weird, though I was probably more offended by Janet's brief rear end grinding.

ANYWAY, ultimately, I think of everything, it's the stupid, insulting, cover-up lying after-the-fact about "costume malfunctions" that I find most insulting and offensive. There's some degree of tolerance I have for various expressions and things, but people knowingly pulling a stunt then turning around and pretending it was just an accident or something without responsibility *really* irks me.

Janet Jackson Got Nasty at the MTV-Produced Super Bowl Halftime Show

Jaws across the country hit the carpet at exactly the same time. You know what we're talking about...Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake and a kinky finale that rocked the Super Bowl to its core. P. Diddy, Kid Rock, & Nelly rounded out the halftime show in the midst of the greatest game on earth. MTV was Super Bowl central, so armchair quarterbacks, fair weather fanatics and fans of Janet Jackson and her pasties were definitely in the right place. So strap on those pads, keep your head down and get the full recap of The AOL Super Bowl XXXVIII Halftime Show produced by MTV.

It was planned.

the superbowl ended hours ago and this thread is still going! everytime i come to neowin its on the front page list...

I'm curious now about how long we can keep this thread going!

Like the energizer bunny....keeps going and going and going!

LOL. Funny now! :D

hah!

with a comment like that... now I know why you vote for Bush :pinch:

Does it really matter? Japan pretty has next to no censorship and they have one of the lowest crime rates. Their society doesn't seem immoral or corrupt.

You people are acting like these kids are going to need years of therapy because they saw a nipple. Hell, if I was the age of 8 and I saw a nipple on TV, I'd be the most excited kid in the world.

Some are just too uptight. I say the world would be a better place if some nipple was shown randomly every once in a while...just not from Janet.

I can't believe all the talk over this. It's MTV, what the hell did people expect? It's Janet, she's a ######. It's Justin, he's a man slut.

Two cheers for ######! What would this world be without them.

Now only if Britney would pose nude for playboy, maxim, or something like that!

:woot:

If anybody still cares, I have basically a wrap up of the pics and the video on my web site (so long as it can endure the traffic :) )

You can find it on Links Removed

Definitely looks intentional. Of course they'll deny it... MTV directed the show, MTV is owned by Viacom, which is a sister company of CBS. The coffers run deep. If they admitted this was intentional, city, state, and church would sue like the dickens (no pun intended).

    • OpenAI is rolling out a major upgrade to ChatGPT memory by Pradeep Viswanathan OpenAI is rolling out a major upgrade to ChatGPT's memory, making the system more capable, current, and scalable across long-term use. Memory allows ChatGPT to remember useful details about users, including their preferences, projects, and constraints. Instead of starting every conversation from scratch, ChatGPT can use this context to provide more relevant responses in future chats. OpenAI first launched saved memories in February 2024. That feature allowed users to explicitly ask ChatGPT to save information into its memory, such as travel plans or writing preferences. However, this system had limits because it depended heavily on users giving clear instructions to remember something. Additionally, saved memories could become stale over time. In April 2025, OpenAI expanded memory by allowing ChatGPT to reference past chat context outside the saved memories list. This was powered by a background process called “dreaming,” which automatically curates memories from chat history. This made ChatGPT better at learning from natural conversation without requiring users to manually save every detail. Today, OpenAI announced a more capable and compute-efficient memory architecture built on top of dreaming. This new system improves ChatGPT’s ability to carry forward useful context, follow user preferences, and remain accurate as time passes. According to OpenAI’s internal evaluations, the new system improves factual recall from 67.9% in 2025 to 82.8% in 2026. Preference adherence improves from 55.3% to 71.3%, while accuracy over time improves from 52.2% to 75.1%. The best part of this new system is a new memory summary page where users can review ChatGPT's memories. Users can even update details, correct information, or give instructions on what topics ChatGPT should bring up and when. This new, improved memory system is available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users in the US starting today. It will roll out to more countries, as well as Free and Go users, in the coming weeks.
    • I work for a video production company in Australia. The camera operators shoot footage and then pass the SD card over to the editors. Much easier than handing over the entire camera. Plus, on a busy day you can hand off the SD card and then pop another in for the next shoot. Or, you might have used multiple SD cards because you need the extra space for a long shoot. I also use USB cables and wifi for transferring footage, but in many cases an SD card reader is the easiest method.
