Ringtone question

When setting up an email app that uses a ringtone when a new email arrives, do I set it up via the app or by Settings>sound and vibration>sim 2 (AT&T)?  If the 1st one is correct, should I select silence the ringtone option on the second one option sim 2 (AT&T) ? For some reason, I do not get a ringtone and I was wondering if they are interfering with each other causing this? I dont have my phone now to try it.

If the app supports the idea of having a different ringtone compared to your notification tone then it would be under the app's settings. Otherwise whatever you set as your notification tone in the system's sound settings will be used.
