I'm trying to install Adguard AdBlocker for Firefox from this page:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adguard-adblocker/ but keep getting an "Download failed. Please check your connection."error message

Get the latest version of FireFox. This has already been fixed.

I would like to keep my old Firefox version

there a way to do it without updating to the latest version?

There's a way to update it without overwriting your current profile.

Which version are you wanting to stick with? ERS is at 60.6.3 https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/60.6.3/releasenotes/ and has the extensions fixed.

I like the old interface, really easy to use

In addition, the privacy option is quite limited in the new version

Looks like support ended for that version of Firefox sometime last year. It's your choice not to update, but you can't expect things to continue to be compatible with it.

Trying to fix technical issues but still keep privacy just wasting my time

Just updated to the latest version and the issue resolved

If you don't want to update or can't there is a workaround to enable the extensions again:
