Looking for New Browser

Edit....

You didn't say in your post this was for Android.

I currently use Samsung Browser, you don't need a Samsung phone for it, the addons i use for it are the add blocker and last pass.

No matter what, I keep going back to Chrome.

Can anyone suggest a browser that has a translate option (so couldn't go with Opera mini) and that works with LastPass?

Thanks

You can use Yandex Browser. It has translate option and support for native Chrome extensions. I've been using it for a while now.

I've been using Brave browser for a while now and really like it.

It's still chromium based so it has the built in translation but doesn't have googles tracking/bloat. Plus it includes a built in ad blocker and a few other nice features :)

edit: just realized your question was in the android section  but my points still stand; just took out the extensions comment above; the desktop version does support extensions from the chrome webstore though :)

There shouldn’t be much performance difference. Both are based on Chromium.

Try it out for yourself if you haven't.

I'm sure the ad blocking is a large factor of it feeling like it performs better :)

It's faster even without ad-blocking. I've tried this on my 6P, and my S8+. Chrome is definitely not as responsive.

I have. Didn’t notice much difference myself 🙂

So far, tried a few of the popular ones like Nox, Mint, Kiwi but something about them has made me move on. I should start a list here.

I have a feeling though that Chrome just works with everything I want.

Brave didn't offer to translate a page (rare that I need this though).

It also doesn't suggest a username with LastPass, only offers to fill in a password after I typed in a username.

Trying out Yanex but when logging in here, it didn't come up with the LastPass prompt.

Some browsers don't automatically popup the fill helper, you can try pulling the lastPass autofill down from the top of your device(3 dots) when on the login page this may or may not give you and fill in the login details, but it does often work for Opera Internet Browser(not mini) and Samsung Internet Browser it also works with Edge and probably some others if your phone is setup correctly although i couldnt get it to fill on the Yandex browser for Neowin.

Just tried Opera.

It didn't pop up with a LastPass suggestion when logging in here.

Is there a setting I need to change to enable this? It's already enabled in LastPass (to show a pop up). In Chrome it shows automatically with no input from me.

Tried the Samsung browser too and the same thing happens, no pop up.

Tried the Brave browser again and it seemed not to work with LastPass popup as before but after giving it another try, it seems to now suggest usernames AND passwords. However LastPass warned me:

Interesting that it shows Brave (neowin.net) in bold, almost as if Brave is somehow changing the way LastPass sees a URL.

Hmm.

It won't popup automatically on all browsers, what you have to do is make sure the lastpass app is running, you should see 3 dots for it at the top left of your phone.

When on the login page pull the top down and click them and they may auto fill for you, sometime it asks you to make sure the correct part of the screen is visible.

Edge will work like Chrome btw.

    • The Trump administration doesn't want you to use OpenAI's GPT-5.6 without its approval by David Uzondu Image via @realDonalTrump (X) As OpenAI prepares the release of its next model, GPT 5.6, the White House has instructed the company to limit the distribution of the software to a small group of government-approved partners instead of the general public, as it has done with previous releases. According to The Information, OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman sent an internal memo to staff on Thursday explaining that the federal government will approve access "customer by customer" during an initial preview phase. Altman noted in the communication that this restrictive rollout is "not [their] long-term model" for software deployment, and the company plans to work toward a "more sustainable" distribution method later. CNN said that both OpenAI and the Trump administration view the capabilities of GPT 5.6 on the same level as Anthropic's Mythos and that government officials intend to "collaborate with frontier AI labs to develop shared approaches for addressing the challenges of scaling this technology." The latest restriction comes just weeks after the US Commerce Department decided to restrict Fable, a version of Mythos with extra safety "guardrails" to prevent users from exploiting software vulnerabilities. Not long after the release, though, researchers at Amazon found a way to bypass these restrictions, prompting an aggressive response from federal authorities. The government ordered Anthropic to cut off access for non-US citizens located outside the US, non-US citizens living inside the US, and incredibly, even Anthropic's own foreign-born employees. Anthropic now appears to be building a workaround to resolve this compliance block with an update to its Privacy Policy that introduces a category called "Verification Data" to handle KYC and Digital IDs. This setup could mandate digital identity checks to filter users by nationality, requiring a government-issued ID and facial biometric data. Who knows? Maybe in the future, you would have to scan your US Passport or State ID to prove your citizenship before you are allowed to chat with Fable 5 (or any other model).
    • When Windows 7 was released I created an AutoHotkey script that uses Alt+` as a keyboard shortcut to move a window across monitors. I have been using that script for over 15 years and this is the first time I have come across another app that uses the same shortcut!
    • I called it last year that they wouldn't end support when they said there would. There are too many people still on Windows 10 waiting for something better to upgrade to and 11 ain't it! The recent promises of fixing Windows 11's many problems is nice, but unless they deliver on those promises in a big way then I expect customers will still want to stick with 10.
