Dear community,


i want to install this ide on MX - Linux. 


the uPyCraft IDE .. guess i can use this tutorial:

Open your Terminal window, navigate to your Downloads folder and list all the files:

$ cd Downloads
$ ls -l
  uPyCraft_linux_V1.X


You should have a similar file (uPyCraft_linux_V1.X) in your Downloads folder. You need to make that file executable with the following command:

$ chmod +x uPyCraft_linux_V1.X


Then, to open/run the uPyCraft IDE software, type the next command:

$ ./uPyCraft_linux_V1.X

I do not have Ubuntu here - but i have a MX-Linux here.  But as i want to install uPyCraft on the Mx-System i guess that i can use the above mentioned commands too. Since Ubuntu relies on Debian and MX does too. 

This is all the reason for this above mentioned thread!

 

i sometimes make sure myself in something while writing things down.  And in this case i just wanted to ask you - if you can confirm the idea - that  Since Ubuntu relies on Debian and MX does too  - i would have no issues to install the above mentioned ide on the MX18.03

 

 

update : if i do so i stuck here:

something goes wrong here.  i have to find out what goes on here. 

 

note: the system gives back the the data were not found.. 

 

any idea ?

MX is based off Debian, as is Ubuntu. So, MX has the same software as Ubuntu.

 

As for the code, I have no idea. As I do not speak or read German...

I am glad - as for the errors. -i try to digg into all that and will try to find out what happened. 

 

I will come back later the weekend and will report all the findings,.

hi there finally installed the ide and now it is running 

 

downloaded the firmware for micropython from the micropython site. 

 

tried to flash it - bit this is not possible.  see the images that i have attached...

 

well  -  run on MX-Linux - but at the moment i have not glue what is going on here...

well probably i ve forgotten to do some environment-settings.

    create a virtual env:
    1. CD to the location where you want to create your virtual environment
    [RUN]: python3 -m venv myVirtEnv

    2. To activate the environment

    [RUN]: source myVirtEnv/bin/activate

    2.a If you don’t create a virtual environment, the uPyCraft v1.0 will break a libz package that is old. Seems there is more risk in breaking your OS by downgrading that package.

    3. Follow the steps here:

update: if i go and do that  i get an errormessage

The virtual environment was not created successfully because ensurepip is not
available. On Debian/Ubuntu systems, you need to install the python3-venv
package using the following command.

apt-get install python3-venv

You may need to use sudo with that command. After installing the python3-venv
package, recreate your virtual environment.

Failing command: [‘/home/martin/myVirtEnv/bin/python3’, ‘-Im’, ‘ensurepip’, ‘–upgrade’, ‘–default-pip’]

guess that there are some errors in the code and steps i do ..?

So you've now installed the package that was missing, so go back to the previous step that was failing and asking you to install it, and try that step again

Once i have activated the virtual environment,  i  should be able to list out packages using pip list and verify version using python --version.

 

that said - i continued: 

  

python3 -m venv myVirtEnv

root@MartinsMX-Rechner:/home/martin# source myVirtEnv/bin/activate

(myVirtEnv) root@MartinsMX-Rechner:/home/martin# python --version

it is just funny i -  could not open serial port - btw. i do not see a com port either

how can i test the full setup!?
