Pull your head out

Suspected act of terror, possibly in sync with the New Orleans attack last night. The truck was carrying a load of fireworks mortars, readily available and they make a very big boom.

Also, there's a video of the explosion. It takes place in the bed of the truck. The battery is in the forward portion of the truck, under the floorboard.

"Police treating vehicle explosion at Trump Las Vegas hotel as possible act of terror: Official

An official briefed on the probe told ABC News that the Tesla Cybertruck had a load of fireworks-style mortars onboard. Investigators are urgently working to determine a motive and whether the driver intended to set off an explosion and why."

You might want to take your own advice, “Pull your head out” cause this isn’t going to be a one-off occurrence for either one of them.  They both ###### off the MAGA and I foresee retribution coming their way if they continue what they’re doing.

The local politics thread is elsewhere.

This version of the video has his entire opening/closing statements.

Musk has already sent them the vehicle telemetry and video from the charging stations.

The blast was contained by the Cybertruck and directed upwards, limiting damage to the surrounding area. The doors of the Trump Tower were not damaged. Exterior hospital of the Cybertruck looks pretty much undamaged, and the gate is still on its hinges.

Tesla reports 1.1% sales drop for 2024, first annual decline in at least 9 years

DETROIT (AP) — Tesla’s global annual sales fell for the first time in at least 9 years, with a 2.3% increase in the final quarter not enough to overcome a sluggish start to 2024 despite offers of 0% financing, free charging and low-priced leases.  Source

It's a horrible choice, given how well the truck held up.

Which might make it "unstoppable", how is that a horrible choice if you have ill intent?

Now the nut jobs don't just have the weapons of the armed forces, they have similar vehicles too. 👍

If you want to put a bomb in it and blow it up. They probably would prefer the vehicle not send most of the explosion out the top.

If they were trying to make a statement regarding Musk and Trump, I don't think a Camry would drive the point home.

And yet it was one that was made, no body said terrorists were well informed. Just look at what we know of the guy!

Tesla throttles down Cybertruck production, shift workers to Model Y

Tesla is throttling down Cybertruck production as it shifts workers to Model Y production because inventory of the electric pickup truck is piling up.

The automaker had planned a production capacity of 250,000 Cybertrucks per year at Gigafactory Texas, and CEO Elon Musk said he could see this being ramped up to 500,000 per year.

However, things are not going in that direction.

After having sold roughly 40,000 Cybertrucks in its first year of production (2024), Tesla is already throttling down Cybertruck production, according to documents obtained by Business Insider.

Utter ###### idiot who thought he could bypass the law.  Probably the type to brag about the "loophole" he discovered, patting himself on the back for "outsmarting" everyone.

Frunk around and find out!

There is literally NOTHING about the cybertruck that conforms to UK (or even EU) safety regulations.  Even the windscreen wipers are illegal... The only way it will ever become legal here is if it's completely redesigned from the ground up, throwing out EVERYTHING that makes it "unique" (terrible).  Hell, you can't even drive the thing without a commercial driver's license due to its weight...

    • No, "a great deal" for 32GB of DDR5 is $50, not $350. I mean I see what you mean, that it's a decent price compared to what's currently available, but you really should put a disclaimer in this articles explaining that it's still multiple times more expensive than it used to be.
    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
