So, finally upgraded from a Nexus 6p.  N6P was a good phone but started to show its age.  Had the phone for about 4yrs and the longest I have ever kept a phone.  It did everything I needed but after 4yrs, started getting sluggish and battery life started to really suck.

So I got the Pixel 4xl 128gb as an early Xmas/Bday gift from my GF.  So far, I am liking it really well.   Been messing around with it off and on for about an hour and still at 100 percent.  My N6P would be down 10 or more percent by now.  I have read a lot about battery life issues on the Pixel 4xl but I don't see myself having much of a problem.  And battery life is really dependent on usage.   So experience may vary from user to use.  Also, I have a charger in my car, at home, at at work so again, I don't see this much of a deal.  Of course I turned off a few recommended features, kept on always on display, enabled dark mode, and I always have black/white background images.

One thing I am going to miss is no LED notifications.   I don't see this as much of a problem with the always on display but I will still miss the feature.

Rooting the device was a little different than normal but took all of maybe 10 minutes to do and is pretty simple.

Anyway, all for now.  Still messing around with the device and only got it this evening.  But so far, so good.

I have been thinking about getting a pixel eventually, so it is good to hear 'real world' reviews! :)

Some non clickbaity reviews from people who used the phone for an extended time.

Also, just watched a 20min Youtube video and battery life stayed at 100 percent.

Thought I would miss the fingerprint reader, but getting used to the face unlock.  Really quick and works well.

I almost didn't get it cause I thought I'd miss the fingerprint. Face unlock is amazing. By the time I'm ready to actually use the phone it's already unlocked. I also thought why couldn't it be bezeless, but I use my phonesa ton in bed at night and not having a notch it feels like the phone is actually bezeless.

Love it.

I absolutely miss LED notifications too but Google does not seem to listen to what its customers want. They wanted a notification LED on the Pixel 3/3XL as well then on the 3a/3a XL. Oh well, maybe now that they brought back the bezel at the top for Pixel 4 without any notch or display holes / cutout, maybe Pixel 4a or Pixel 5 will revive the notification LED as well. I would still take the design of Pixel over all other phones with notches, holes, popup cameras etc.

Had the phone for a few days and so far, so good.  Take it off the charger at 5am and have 50-60 percent battery life when it goes back on the charger at 11pm.  But then again, I am not a real heavy user and someone who needs to use their phone all the time.  I actually keep my phone in my pocket when I go out to eat....With that said, I use my phone for Teams, work email, personal email, texting, google voice, web browsing...that sort of thing.

But like I said originally, anything better than my old N6P will work for me.  For example, by the time I get to work, my N6P drained 5-6 percent battery life during the 50 minute drive in my pocket.  My P4XL is still at 100 percent when I get to work.  So I have no issues with battery life.

Not really missing fingerprint reader myself either.  I changed the face unlock to not go directly to my home screen so I can see the notifications on the lock screen first.  But it is pretty nice and really fast.

I refused to consider any Pixel 4 (including the XL) over the fingerprint feature going away (it was a feature of my S7, and is included in all previous Pixels, including my 3a which I got as a birthday prezzie).  Throw in the face-lock security issue (have they patched it yet?), and it is still in the "Do Not Buy" category for that reason (in addition to price).

    • TeraCopy 4.0 Build 26 by Razvan Serea TeraCopy is a compact program designed to copy and move files at the maximum possible speed, also providing you with a lot of features. Copy files faster. TeraCopy uses dynamically adjusted buffers to reduce seek times. Asynchronous copy speeds up file transfer between two physical hard drives. Pause and resume transfers. Pause copy process at any time to free up system resources and continue with a single click. Error recovery. In case of copy error, TeraCopy will try several times and in the worse case just skips the file, not terminating the entire transfer. Interactive file list. TeraCopy shows failed file transfers and lets you fix the problem and recopy only problem files. Shell integration. TeraCopy can completely replace Explorer copy and move functions, allowing you work with files as usual. TeraCopy is free for non-commercial use only. For commercial use you need to buy a license. The paid version of the program includes the following features: Copy/move to your favorite folders. Save reports as HTML and CSV files. Select files with the same extension/folder. Remove the selected files from the copy queue. TeraCopy 4.0 Build 26 changelog: Added support for receiving files via the LocalSend protocol. Improved exception handling and automated bug report upload. Fixed several minor bugs and small memory leaks. Build 26 (June 24) Fixed a rare exception when a transfer completed. Features added since version 3.17: Enhanced speed graph. New multi-threaded copy engine. Support for copying to multiple targets. Queue system for managing multiple copy operations. Support for receiving files via the LocalSend protocol. TeraCopy entry in the modern Windows Explorer context menu. Integrated toolbar in the title bar. Why receive LocalSend transfers with TeraCopy? Handle file conflicts: Skip, overwrite, or rename files when a file with the same name already exists. LocalSend always creates another copy, which can waste time and disk space, especially when resuming an interrupted transfer. Filter unwanted files: Apply ignore lists or remove files manually before accepting a transfer, so unnecessary files are not downloaded. Better performance on fast networks: In tests over a 10 Gbps connection, TeraCopy received files several times faster than the standard LocalSend app on Windows. • Age of Empires Mobile comes to PC, here's how to carry over progress from your phone by Ivan Jenic Image: YouTube/Microsoft Microsoft just released Age of Empires Mobile for PC. The game, officially called Age of Empires Mobile: PC Edition, is available for free on Steam and Microsoft Store, almost two years after its initial release for handheld devices. Age of Empires is one of those franchises that entire generations grew up with. The original came out in 1997, and immediately got people hooked to building civilizations and crushing their enemies on the battlefield. However, the franchise today is a far cry from its roots, as Age of Empires Mobile is, well, a game optimized for handheld devices, and not a classic RTS title we’ve all loved for years. And, of course, it includes in-game purchases. The PC version is still a mobile game at its core, but it’s been optimized for desktop play. There’s mouse control, full keyboard compatibility, and a refined UI. Microsoft also refreshed the visuals with some 4k textures, so the game should look better on larger screens. The game supports Crossplay, so you can switch between your phone, tablet, and PC without losing anything. But linked progress doesn’t come out of the box, as you have to enable it first. Here’s how to link your progress: On your mobile device, open Age of Empires Mobile. Go to Settings (Gear icon) > Account. Select Bind Account and choose a sign-in option. Once you enable account binding, sign in on PC using the same method, and your progress will be accessible across all your devices. Xbox Game Pass subscribers also get a bonus reward pack on PC, which includes: 1 Monthly Pass Token 1 Custom Resource Chest 10 Universal 60-Minute Speed-Ups 1,000 Empire Coins Exclusive Player Portrait Frame You can find more info about Age of Empires Mobile: PC Edition, as well as download links, on the Age of Empires official website.

Amazon labels the offer as selling fast, so the current price may not remain available for long. This GPS model features a 42mm aluminum case, an Always-On Retina LTPO3 OLED display capable of reaching up to 2,000 nits, and an Ion-X glass surface with improved scratch resistance. Apple rates Series 11 for up to 24 hours of normal use or up to 38 hours in Low Power Mode, with fast charging providing up to eight hours of use from a 15-minute charge. Health and fitness tools include sleep scoring, temperature sensing, ECG support, heart-rate alerts, workout tracking, sleep apnea notifications, and hypertension notifications, where available. The watch also carries IP6X dust resistance and 50-meter water resistance. This configuration is best suited to iPhone owners who want comprehensive health tracking, notifications, contactless payments, and workout data without stepping up to a larger or cellular-equipped model. The smaller case should also appeal to buyers who prefer a lighter watch, while the S/M band fits wrists measuring 130mm to 180mm.
