Trying to take ownership of Content.IE5 - Access is denied

I'm trying to take ownership of a shortcut to: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c get_iplayer_web_pvr.cmd

When I try, I get:

SUCCESS: The file (or folder): "C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe" now owned by user "ELLIOT-PC\kingm".
processed file: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe
C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.IE5\*: Access is denied.
Successfully processed 1 files; Failed processing 1 files
Press any key to continue . . .

I have taken ownership (folders and all content within) of:

  • C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE
  • C:\Users\kingm\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.IE5
  • C:\Users\kingm\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE

Any ideas?

Content.IE5 is one of those funky NTFS directory "junctions". If you're using the "takeown" command, it's probably trying to work

on the target of the shortcut, instead of the shortcut itself. The shortcut file Properties dialog, advanced security tab, is

probably the better place to try to change ownership.
