inactive icons

in the windows xp there is something called hide inactive icons.

it hides icons in the taskbar.

i have it off, and that that thing still hides icons, why??

i know that because once when i start the computer i have like 6 icons, next time i start it ihave 4, then in few days i have 6 again.

and second question how to clear that list??

in the taskbar and start menu properties by hide inactive icons, there is a button customize, when i click on it it shows me a very long list of appz that i used to have runing in the taskbar, but i don't even have those appz any more.

so does any one know how to clear that list???

I had that exact same bug too on my laptop, the only way i found to cure it was to format and then turn off the feature as soon as i got back to the desktop, it hasn't happened since.

but i don't wanna format, i wanna fix it.

i did not do a format for about 6 months now, and i want to keep it that way.

i have to much stuff on my pc to format it
