Which remittance apps have the lowest fees?

Which remittance apps have you found have the lowest fees? So far, Transferwise is the best that I've found and the savings are decent compared to Remitly's £1.99 fee. According to the UN SDGs, the target by 2030 is to have remittance fees to less than 3% of the transaction costs ("By 2030, reduce to less than 3 per cent the transaction costs of migrant remittances and eliminate remittance corridors with costs higher than 5 per cent").

UK, Jersey, and Gibraltar contact tracing apps now speak to each other
      by Paul Hill

The UK’s Department of Health and Social Care has announced that coronavirus contact tracing apps across the UK, Jersey, and Gibraltar are now interoperable. The Scottish, Northern Irish and Jersey apps have all been speaking to each other since the end of October but an update to the NHS COVID-19 app and the Beat COVID Gibraltar app means all the apps in the territories can speak to each other.

With England going back into lockdown from today, travel to different areas of the UK will be greatly reduced but for those who have no choice but to travel, their contact tracing app will be a lot more useful.

To prevent another round of fear, uncertainty and doubt about the app, the Department of Health and Social Care said that the interoperability will not compromise the app’s commitment to privacy. It said:

The government also took the opportunity to mention that the NHS COVID-19 app was now being used by more than 19 million adults across England and Wales. With the app notifying people to stay at home if it thinks they could have coronavirus, it allows for a break in the chain of infection which inhibits the virus.

Zoom calls will gain more functionality with Zapps
      by Paul Hill

The popular teleconferencing software solution, Zoom, has announced the upcoming launch of Zapps that will provide access to third-party services right from within Zoom calls. According to the firm, Zapps will help people to conduct their work in a more efficient and productive manner.

The plan right now is for the first Zapps to be available on Zoom by the end of the year with more developers being given the ability to develop other apps shortly after. Zapps will be available to both free and paid users making them very accessible no matter your financial resources. With Zapps, users can quickly navigate apps within Zoom to streamline permissions, grant document accessibility, and collaborate on screen.

Zoom has launched Zapps with over 25 launch partners, the first Zapps that are being made available this year include Atlassian, Asana, Box, Dropbox, Slack, Wrike, Coursera, Kahoot!, Kaltura, Cameo, Exer, Slido, Superhuman, Woven, Pitch, Smartsheet, Coda, HubSpot, Chorus, Gong, Lucidspark, Miro, Mural, ServiceNow, and PagerDuty.

Explaining how some of the Zapps can be used, Product Lead of Integrations Ross Mayfield, said:

To stay up-to-date on the launch of Zapps and to see partner demo videos, Zoom recommends that you visit its dedicated Zapps page. As previously mentioned, Zapps will be rolling out to users sometime before the end of the year.

Google Assistant adds deep integration for some third-party apps
      by Usman Khan Lodhi

Voice commands for Google Assistant are about to get smarter, as the Mountain View firm is adding the ability to directly interact with third-party Android apps, which means users can now search apps and even use voice commands for popular tasks. The integration will let users ask for news on Twitter, send messages, browse their shopping cart, and more. Here are some of the things that you can say to Assistant:

While the feature isn't available for every single Android just yet, Google said that Assistant will work with the top 30 apps on the Play Store for now, and support for more apps will come soon.

The feature is rolling out today on all Assistant-supported Android devices and works with apps like Twitter, Snapchat, Discord, MyFitnessPal, Nike Run Club, and more. To see a list of commands that you can use, say "Hey Google, show my shortcuts." You can also set up personalized shortcuts on this page.

This capability helps Assistant be a much more powerful digital helper, as users will be able to interact with third-party apps when their hands are full or they don't want to touch their phone. Additionally, this feature could provide accessibility to people with visual impairments.
