It seems that Microsoft products are not used so much as others do ! For example a saw many times Firefox in the topics, also iTunes. These products are going to break down download servers! lol :p

My desktop and laptop software usage:

Web: Firefox 0.8

Mail: Thunderbird 0.5 + Webmail

Audio: Foobar 2000 0.8 RC6

Office: OpenOffice 1.1

Video: WMP9 (suggestions here? I think it's enough when coupled with FFDshow)

Firewall: ZoneAlarm Free Edition (I think this is better than MS's one, though I'm not really confident)

IM / Chat: MSN Messenger + mIRC

CD Burning: Nero 6 (the cd-writing support in windows XP is crap, IMO)

That's also probably because this whole forum has much more of an anti-MS tilt than the "real world" :).

I use almost solely Microsoft software; not because I love MS, but because the alternatives aren't that appealing to me. I used to use Trillain, but then switched to just MSN when MSN 5/6 came out, and most of my contacts stopped using ICQ and AIM. MSN6 w/ MsgPlus is almost unbeatable, especially with the built-in skin and small games. I also use Hotmail for e-mail, and have been (with the same e-mail address!) for the last ~5 years :). Since Hotmail had that facelift a few months ago, I've also gotten a lot less junk mail -- in my junk mail folder (I've always been on exclusive)! They must automatically block a lot of junkmail at the server level now; I've gone from getting 30+ junkmails a day to <10 :D.

Hehe... The 'Anti MS Campaign' still continues! :p

Microsoft isn't a bad company, just some of it's product aren't as good as ones that belong in the Non MS Category!

Anw, I changed my common apps in non ms still but...

E-Mail Client: Thunderbird

MP3 Player: WinAMP

Thunderbird is the best e-mail client I've ever used, for Winamp we all now that is great! :D
