Nick Chapple Posted October 13, 2020 Share Posted October 13, 2020 Hello everyone, I am currently debating between buying a AMD Ryzen 7 3700X ($295) or maybe AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core ($340). However with the new AMD Ryzen 5 5600X coming out for only $300 I am unsure if that is going to out perform both of these? Also I am unsure if the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X will even work on my ASUS B350F-Gaming Motherboard. Thoughts on this? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think the 5600 is coming out, what was that, Q1 of next year? I wouldn't wait for that until its more mainstream. What are you doing with your computer that you need this speed bump? farmeunit Posted October 13, 2020 Share Posted October 13, 2020 (edited) They came out with 5xxx to differentiate from laptop processors which are 4xxx. They should have just put a number on them, but whatever.... I would get a 3xxx now. Since the 5600X is actually a tier down. Performance will likely be similar, but you'll get 2 more cores, and better compatibility with things since they've been out a while. Make sure to check BIOS version, also. If you aren't getting a new motherboard...you could probably wait for some deals on the 3700x ... after the 5000 series are released? Just a thought.... What is your current CPU anyway? I’m sorry but that’s OEM only and not at all what’s being discussed here. Not to mention, those are Zen2+, not Zen3 and lower power. I will concede that yes, technically there are 4000 series for OEMs only. I forgot about them, but it was not what @Mindovermasterwas referring to, either way.
