Weird slow cursor issue

I’m on the latest insider build and started noticing a weird issue. If I click to bring up tray icons, hover over an icon on taskbar to get preview, or click the Notification Center, my mouse pointer will start lagging really bad. It gets to the point where it takes several minutes for it to catch up and I can do anything. I did a clean install of the same build today and at first the issue wasn’t there, but then I started gradually noticing it. I also had a couple of odd issues after the clean install. The Edge icon was blank and wouldn’t launch plus I wasn’t able to set up a Mail account with the mail app. Does this sound like possibly a hardware issue?

While it could be hardware, it sounds more like a possible driver issue with it not being present right away. Ensure that all of you device drivers are up to date from the manufactures and if anything, you can troubleshoot by removing all extra hardware and reconnect one by on to see when the issue appears.
 

I have had a similar issue with a bad Nvidia driver that was causing lag when hardware acceleration was being used. Found that the one HP had installed had caused the issue and updating to the latest drivers had fixed it.

It's weird because the nVidia driver installed with Windows was dated in December but it has a higher version number than the one nVidia came out with a couple weeks ago. I just want' figure out why it only happens on those taskbar previews and notification center.

I would download the drivers directly from Nvidia instead of the widows update versions. Always better to use vendor drivers as the ones in windows update are not the same as what they release. One thing you could try to see if those drivers are the issue is to uninstall the card via device manager. It should default to generic drivers. If the issue goes away, you at least know what’s causing it.

 

While my paste was with the Nvidia drivers were what I had issues with in the paste, other drivers like chipset and system components may also cause this. If you are using windows update for all drivers, I would check for manufacturer drivers as these can either be out of date or generics to ensure windows “should” work out of the box to install proper drivers and software.

I don't think it's chipset drivers because I've been running this machine for 2 years without issue and hadn't updated the drivers. Since I'm on a clean install, I'm wondering if it's hardware or a bug in the insider build. I googled it and couldn't find a thing.

A bit slow on the thread here but do you by any chance use any KVM Software?

 

I had these exact same issues and narrowed it down to Barrier - killing the Barrier process(..or was it the service?) stopped it for me.
