Sir Topham Hatt
Had to reset the PC a little while ago. When minimizing windows, particularly noticeable with a browser window, it seems to restore using some sort of special effect that makes it look like the window has come from the taskbar area (I use dual monitors). If I turn off the "show animations in Windows", will it turn off other animations? Not sure which others there are. Thanks Edited May 4, 2021 by Sir Topham Hatt Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1407574-turning-off-windows-animations/ Share on other sites
+Biscuits Brown MVC Posted May 4, 2021 MVC Share Posted May 4, 2021 What 'other animations' are you concerned about? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1407574-turning-off-windows-animations/#findComment-598641998 Share on other sites
farmeunit
Are they just distracting or performance issue? I have read that, in some configurations, turning those off was actually a small performance hit. But that might have just been in the Aero XP days, and depended on your graphics card. Honestly, I never change any of those settings. Jim K Global Moderator Posted May 4, 2021 Global Moderator Share Posted May 4, 2021 I'm with ya...I hate animations. Settings > Ease of Access > turn off "Show animations in Windows" Alternatively... type.... "SystemPropertiesPerformance" in the start menu and uncheck/check what you want. Sir Topham Hatt
Thanks. It's not about performance but more the look. I guess I just don't like it 😛 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1407574-turning-off-windows-animations/#findComment-598642015 Share on other sites
Brandon H Supervisor Posted May 4, 2021 Supervisor Share Posted May 4, 2021 Just now, Sir Topham Hatt said: Thanks. It's not about performance but more the look. I guess I just don't like it 😛 yeah, I don't mind animations but they're starting to get over the top now. though thankfully windows animations aren't nearly as over the top as macOS Home computer is one thing but on my work PC I always turn off most of the animations in the SystemPropertiesPerformance window, obvious exclusion being the "show window contents while dragging" lol Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1407574-turning-off-windows-animations/#findComment-598642017 Share on other sites
+Warwagon MVC Posted May 4, 2021 MVC Share Posted May 4, 2021 I disable them to speed stuff up by milliseconds. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1407574-turning-off-windows-animations/#findComment-598642044 Share on other sites
cooky560 Veteran Posted May 7, 2021 Veteran Share Posted May 7, 2021 I turn them off, they feel like they waste my time, even if it's only a few seconds each day, they're unnecessary.
