Turning Off Windows Animations

Recommended Posts

Had to reset the PC a little while ago.

When minimizing windows, particularly noticeable with a browser window, it seems to restore using some sort of special effect that makes it look like the window has come from the taskbar area (I use dual monitors).

If I turn off the "show animations in Windows", will it turn off other animations?  Not sure which others there are.

Thanks

Are they just distracting or performance issue?  I have read that, in some configurations, turning those off was actually a small performance hit.  But that might have just been in the Aero XP days, and depended on your graphics card.  Honestly, I never change any of those settings.

I'm with ya...I hate animations.

Settings > Ease of Access > turn off "Show animations in Windows"

Alternatively... type.... "SystemPropertiesPerformance" in the start menu and uncheck/check what you want.

Thanks.

It's not about performance but more the look.  I guess I just don't like it 😛

yeah, I don't mind animations but they're starting to get over the top now. though thankfully windows animations aren't nearly as over the top as macOS

Home computer is one thing but on my work PC I always turn off most of the animations in the SystemPropertiesPerformance window, obvious exclusion being the "show window contents while dragging" lol
