Qnap or Synology or Asustor? How long a NAS storage should last?

HI guys. I posted before that I used to have a qnap device with 2 bays since 2018 but broke this year. I tried everything I know to fix it but with no luck. To find a replacement I found the Synology DS720+ that I believe it should last longer than the Qnap. Also this time I am getting the extended warranty with it, to make it a total of 5 years.

 

But I believe that NAS storages should last more than 3 to 5 years. Comparing to a desktop computer that I purchase on 2011 and it is still working except that it is outdated.

 

So what are your experience for NAS devices for home use? what lasted the most?

Computer hardware always fails. It's not just "It lasts # years" or "one device lasts longer"

 

I like Synology. Just read reviews on different hardware.

Are NAS as reliable as a full blown PC?

I am thinking of changing mine up as I'm not so sure I need a full on PC for my media storage.
