Waking laptop from sleep with lid closed

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. I recently bought a dual horizontal laptop stand to store my personal and work laptop. Since both my power buttons are located on the keyboard face, turning them back on following a shutdown has been a bit of conundrum for me.

I decided to change my power settings so that the laptops did nothing on lid closure. I've also disabled usb suspend and hibernate. Now with both lids open, I am able to put each to sleep, then with a left click of the mouse I am able to wake them back up. This is the behaviour I'm looking for, however I am not able to do this when the lids are closed. Why would this be? As I've said, I've set them to do nothing when lids are closed but they seem unable to wake from sleep when I click the mouse in this scenario.

Ideally Id like to store them vertically in their stands, without ever needing to intervene with either of them physically to boot them back up. But having the lids closed seems to prevent me doing this despite setting it to "do nothing".

Any ideas how I might be able to get them out of sleep with lids closed?

Thanks
