FxSound Is Now Completely Free

Recommended Posts

If you are like me, and you love to hear great sound coming out of your computer speakers, you probably take your time to squeeze the best sound possible out of your sound card. Sometimes an equalizer is the best and easiest way to accomplish this.

There are really not that many great options out there when it comes to equalizers for Windows, though. For several years now, I have used the program FXSound, but it was not free. I was however willing to pay the premium because of the program's slick interface and all the nice options it has to manage your system audio.

However just a couple of weeks ago James Titchener, CEO and Owner of FxSound  announced via an email to all premium subscribers, and also through their website that FXSound will now become free software for all to use. He explained that if you want to support the FxSound team and contribute to their mission to make amazing sound available to all, you may do so by donating.

You may download FXSound for Windows from Right Here.

You can also read the blog post with the announcement about the program becoming Freeware here.

Hello,

Neowin wrote about this a few days ago, too!  See: https://www.neowin.net/news/fxsound-dfx-now-free-of-charge/

I have to admit, though, I am personally not familiar with using equalizers (software or hardware).

How do you use it to tune your audio?

Ooops I missed that post.

Well, it's a very simple and straight forward application. Simply open it, go to the settings and set which is your preferred audio output device. Then start playing with the sliders until you get a sound that you like. There's also presets which from where you may start working from. Then you may also save your own presets or import new ones.

Also, go into the Windows Volume Mixer settings and make sure that FXSound has been selected as the default audio device. This can considerably improve your audio fidelity, bass boost, as well as improving highs, mids and lows in incredible ways. It's always one of the first applications I install after installing Windows.

I cannot stand listening to Spotify and other music apps without this installed. It just truly improves audio.

Ohh I knew it as DFX audio enhancer and used for it for few years however since Windows Vista/7, I moved on to Equalizer APO with the Peace GUI for it. Anyways, thanks for this. Definitely will give this a try too.

Thanks!

I just became aware of that one a few days ago actually, It seems to be very advanced though. It will definitely require a learning curve.  But I might give it a try sometime for sure on my other PC.

I have some really nice Audio Engine speakers, which produce a lovely sound with default Windows settings.

Will give this a go and see, but if it's too much messing about, I'll just go back to normal.

If you take your time to play with it, you'll love it man, trust me.

Just thought I'd come back and say thanks.

It's actually a better result than I thought it would be - one for the keeping!

Cheers mate!

    • Yup, broke my comp… again. its times like this when I regret AMD. This just never happens on NV.
    • Huh? You're delusional calling the Steam Deck dead. It is so successful that it has sold out multiple times. Even after the price hike this year it sold out again with 24 hours of being back in stock. The demand is real and has not died down even after four years.
